In vitro effects of aluminum on bone phosphatases: a possible interaction with bPTH and vitamin D3 metabolites.
TL;DR: The results show that, when compared to the value found in half calvaria incubated in a control medium, the bone acid and alkaline phosphatase content is significantly higher in paired halves incubated with Al as well as with bPTH, 1,25-, or 24,25(OH)2D3 and sharply decreased with higher Al concentrations.

In vitro effects of vitamin D3 metabolites on rat calvaria cAMP content.
TL;DR: The required duration of the preincubation (over 1 h) as well as the inhibitory action of cycloheximide may suggest an involvement of protein synthesis in the vitamin D3 metabolites effects.

Genome-independent effects of 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D-3 on membrane potential
TL;DR: It is concluded that rapid effects of 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D-3 on Vm, in target cells, are specific, most likely due to permeability changes and not related to nuclear protein synthesis; they may contribute to early modulation of cell function.

Somatostatin and vitamin D3 metabolites in rat calvarium: in vitro evidence for physiological interaction.

TL;DR: The hypotheses that bone is a target organ for somatostatin and that vitamin D3 metabolites interact with this peptide on bone were tested in vitro, using calvaria from newborn rats with the following results.
