Privacy education is becoming increasingly important these days, especially for young people. While several e-learning platforms for privacy awareness training have been implemented, they are typically based on traditional learning techniques. More specifically, they do not allow students to cooperate and share knowledge in order to achieve mutual benefits and improve learning outcomes. In this paper, we propose a collaborative e-learning platform for privacy education, which can provide a stable personalized partner selection mechanism using game theory. The proposed mechanism guarantees a stable student-student matching according to students' preferences (behavior and/or knowledge). Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed model in terms of achieving students' satisfaction compared to other existing partner selection models. The results also suggest that the proposed approach allows us to achieve better learning outcomes in privacy education.

A Stable Personalised Partner Selection for Collaborative Privacy Education

The final year project is an important part of obtaining a Graduation certificate in scientific and engineering universities. To ensure high quality in the completion of graduation projects, the project allocation process must be efficient and fair among students. Optimum allocation of graduation projects ensures a great experience for students and exceptional learning of new technologies from that projects, which may contribute to expanding students' future horizons. In this work, we review a wide range of research for the allocation project strategies that are used in various universities, in addition to the factors that have an effective impact on the selection of graduation projects by students. We also highlight the problems that these strategies tried to solve, in addition to those that they failed to solve. Finally, we present a modern idea to overcome too many problems that were presented in the literature discussion where the proposed system is based mainly on the student development level during the study stage.

Optimum Allocation of Graduation Projects: Survey and Proposed Solution

Undergraduate students require to undertake the Final Year Project (FYP) for the completion of their studies. The allocation of FYP can be fundamental for students to be allocated to the project based on their interest with supervisors that expertise in their project field. However, the usual practice for the FYP allocation process is done manually by the FYP Coordinator. In this paper, few studies have been made on existing FYP allocation systems. Besides, we also focus on allocation techniques to provide the best decision which satisfied both lecturer and student preferences and lesser the workload of the FYP Coordinator. The existing FYP System which includes subject allocation and implemented the allocation techniques were highlighted and presented. The efficiency of the system is identified through the highest project allocation accuracy and shows the best FYP system and allocation technique. Therefore, this paper focused on a systematic literature review (SLR) from a previous study regarding the existing Final Year Project Allocation System and allocation techniques.

Final Year Project Allocation System Techniques: A Systematic Literature Review

With the popularization of the Internet and the arrival of the big data era, numerous different social networks (SNs) have emerged to satisfy users’ social needs and offer them rich content and convenient services. Under these circumstances, identifying multiple social accounts belonging to the same user across different SNs is of great importance for many applications. Across social networks user identification (ASNUI) can help perfect user information, offer personalized service recommendation, and data mining, as well as provide support for scientific research. This paper first systematically introduces the application of ASNUI in the field of social computing, then states its applications and challenges, and reviews the adopted models, frameworks, and performance comparison state-of-the-art techniques used in ASNUI. Finally, we also identify a few future research directions in ASNUI, such as weight allocation of user attribute information, the fusion of multi-dimensional information, and large-scale user identification.

A Survey of Across Social Networks User Identification

Nowadays, privacy education plays an important role in teenagers’ lives. Since this domain is strongly linked to their social life, it is preferable to provide a collaborative learning environment that teaches privacy, and at the same time, allows students to share knowledge, to interact with each other, to solve quizzes collaboratively and to discuss privacy issues and situations. To this end, we propose “Teens-online”, a collaborative e-learning platform for privacy awareness. The curriculum provided in this platform is based on the International Competency Framework on Privacy Education. Moreover, the proposed platform is equipped with a partner-matching mechanism based on matching game theory. This mechanism guarantees a stable student-student matching according to the student’s need (behavior and/or knowledge). Thus, mutual benefits will be attained by largely minimizing the chances of cooperating with incompatible students. Experimental results show that the average utility obtained by applying the proposed algorithm is much higher than the average utility obtained using other matching mechanisms. The results suggest that by adopting the proposed approach, each student can be paired with their optimal partners, which in turn can help them to engage more in learning activities.

Project allocation is an annual challenge for lecturers and students. The process of allocating project involves matching preferences of students over project and with of staff over the student, and is thus an instance of stable marriage problem from theoretical computer science aspect. The aim is to find a stable allocation of project to students, such that it is impossible to find a project swap that would make all involved parties (both students, both staff) happier. This paper investigated efficacy of stable marriage algorithm and deployed basic Gale Sharply Algorithm into the process of allocating student project. A system was developed using ruby and MySQL to handle the task. The result showed that the algorithm was able to improve the process by enhancing the stability involved.

Implementation of Stable Marriage Algorithm in Student Project Allocation

Open-source software has been widely developed and adopted for different purposes, including in the educational sector. Many institutions of learning extensively utilize open-source e-learning software to complement their in-class programs, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. But many institutions of learning in Nigeria are still unable to utilize the opportunity due to a lack of adequate awareness and guidance on how to adopt the software. This study is aimed at educating the Nigerian public on open-source e-learning software and its benefits in education, especially in tertiary institutions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. To better have a wide coverage of respondents in Nigerian tertiary institutions, we conducted an online survey and a paper-based questionnaire. A sample of 500 responses was collected from Nigerians with different high educational levels regarding Open-Source e-learning adoption and awareness. However, only 349 responses were returned. The results of the survey were analyzed using python-based analysis libraries. The findings indicated that a greater percentage of the respondents were aware of what constitutes open-source e-learning but that most institutions in Nigeria have not fully utilized the platform for learning activities. It is implied that a reasonable number of respondents have literacy knowledge of open-source learning and agree that COVID-19 has greatly influenced the use of e-learning software in Nigerian institutions. It is therefore recommended that more work be done to improve the awareness level of various institutions to fully utilize the technology and the benefits it represents. This led to the development of a web-based solution for creating more awareness among the public. This would help close the gap found in this study and affect how open-source e-learning software is used in Nigerian schools.
