TbMP57 is a 3' terminal uridylyl transferase (TUTase) of the Trypanosoma brucei editosome.

TL;DR: It is suggested that TbMP57 catalyzes U addition to pre-mRNA during editing, distinct from a previously identified TUTase that adds many Us to ssRNA and which the authors find is neither a stable editosome component nor does it add Us to editing-like substrates.

Differential functions of two editosome exoUases in Trypanosoma brucei
TL;DR: Results indicate that both KreX1 and KREX2 are important for retention of other proteins in editosomes, and suggest that the reduction in cell viability upon K REX1 knockdown is likely a consequence of KREN1 loss.
Krex2 is not essential for either procyclic or bloodstream form trypanosoma brucei
TL;DR: KREX2 is a U-specific exonuclease that is dispensable for RNA editing in vivo in T. brucei BFs and PFs, suggesting that the U deletion activity, which is required for RNA edited, is primarily mediated in vivo by KREX1 which is normally found associated with only one type of editosome.
Mitochondrion of the Trypanosoma brucei long slender bloodstream form is capable of ATP production by substrate-level phosphorylation.
G. Taleva,Michaela Husová,Brian Panicucci,Carolina Hierro-Yap,Erika P Alarcón Pineda,Marc Biran,Martin Moos,Petr Šimek,Falk Butter,Frédéric Bringaud,Alena Zíková +10 more
TL;DR: The data establish that the long slender bloodstream form mitochondrion is capable of generating ATP via substrate-level phosphorylation pathways, and knocking out the succinyl-CoA synthetase gene resulted in changes to the metabolic landscape of the parasite, lowered virulence, and reduced mitochondrial ATP content.
