Dianilino derivatives of squaric acid
Eberhard W. Neuse,Brian Green +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a mechanism accounting for concurrent formation of both isomers involves the intermediacy of anilinium anilinosquarate (5 ) in dissociation equilibrium with anilinisquaric acid (7) and its conjugate base anion, with both acid and anion implicated as substrates in the further nucleophilic attack steps leading to the two dianilino isomers.

Steroids and related natural products-X: reduction of lactones
TL;DR: Boron trifluoride etherate-lithium aluminum hydride reduction of 12β-hydroxy-14ξ-rosane 16-carboxylic acid lactone (IIa), dihydroabietic γ-lactone (IIIa) and 3β-oxo-3a-oxa-A-homo- 5α-androstane (IX) was found to yield the corresponding (IIb and IIIb) and oxepane (Xb, after acetylation) derivatives as discussed by the authors

Peptide synthesis by the soluble-polymer technique
Brian Green,Lorrin R. Garson +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the conditions necessary for the successful use of the soluble polymer method of peptide synthesis were delineated and illustrated with the preparation of a pentapeptide.

Coumarins and related compounds. Part IV. Aluminium chloride-catalysed reaction of phenols with methyl acrylate: a new approach to the synthesis of hydroxycoumarins
TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of 5-, 6- and 7-hydroxycoumarins by dehydrogenation of the corresponding 3,4-dihydro-derivatives obtained by aluminium chloride-catalysed reaction of dihydric phenols or their derivatives with methyl acrylate is reported.
