A remote entry system for a vehicle includes a portable transmitter and a vehicle-mounted receiver. The receiver alternates between a monitoring state lasting for a monitoring period and a sleep state lasting for a sleep period. A remote control is manually activated and a message sequence is transmitted to the receiver in response to the manual activation for initiating a function of the remote entry system. The message sequence comprises a plurality of blocks transmitted at a predetermined block interval, the blocks including a preamble block and at least one message block. If the receiver detects the preamble block then it enters a reception state for detecting the message block. The preamble block has a predetermined preamble length and is comprised of a plurality of bytes separated by respective off intervals between successive bytes. Each off interval comprises a predetermined off period greater than the predetermined byte period. The predetermined off period is less than the monitoring period and the monitoring period is less than or equal to the predetermined off period plus substantially twice the predetermined byte period.

The program (34) is configured to provide a voltage to the wake-up circuit (46) for a first time period (T1) once an interrupt is received by the processor (26). Then, the program (34) may monitor the wake-up circuit (46) for a second time period (T2). If a response of the wake-up circuit (46) exceeds at least one of a plurality of predetermined limits, then the program (34) may recalibrate the wake-up circuit (46).

The in-vehicle device transmits a wake signal in intervals until receiving a response from an electronic key ( 10 ) and communicates with the electronic key when receiving the response to determine whether the electronic key is authentic. The wireless charging device includes a primary coil (L1) that transmits power to a charged device ( 50 ) when supplied with alternating current. A detection unit ( 43 ) uses the wake signal to detect when communication starts between the in-vehicle device and the electronic key. A power supplying suppression unit ( 43 ) reduces the alternating current supplied to the primary coil over a certain time from when the communication starts. The power supplying suppression time includes the time required for a series of communication to be performed between the in-vehicle device and the electronic key for the verification.

A remote keyless entry (RKE) circuit ( 100 ) and method reduces the amount of current draw by duty cycling the RKE circuit ( 100 ) to ensure that a microcontroller ( 104 ) in the RKE circuit ( 100 ) is awakened only when needed to evaluate RF data. A total operating period for the RKE circuit ( 100 ) includes a transient period, a data monitoring period, and a sleep period. The RKE circuit ( 100 ) includes a pulse blocking circuit ( 109 ) that prevents a receiver stabilization pulse from waking up the microcontroller ( 104 ). If no data is received during the data monitoring period, the microcontroller ( 104 ) remains in a sleep mode for the remainder of the operating period.
