TL;DR: In contrast to the view that psychiatric epidemiological research is more prone to high attrition rates, this study revealed a relatively low attrition rate and both sociodemographic and psychiatric variables were independent determinants of attrition.

TL;DR: It is shown that patients with pain are more prone to a chronic course of depressive and anxiety disorders, and more attention to pain seems to be necessary when diagnosing and treating these disorders.
