TL;DR: Here, it is examined ways in which COVID-19 is amplifying known barriers to women’s career advancement and proposed actionable solutions, which include the formation of a Pandemic Response Faculty Fellow or Pandemic Faculty Merit Committee (PFMC), new/revised tenure and promotion metrics created by the aforementioned committee, and a framework to ensure that the new metrics and policies are adopted college-wide.

From here to paternity: Neural correlates of the onset of paternal behavior in California mice (Peromyscus californicus)
TL;DR: Paternal experience increases Fos-LIR induced by distal pup cues in the MPO, but not in oxytocin and vasopressin neurons, and fatherhood appears to alter neurotransmission in the BNST and DRC, regions implicated in emotionality and stress-responsiveness.

From panic to pedagogy: Using online active learning to promote inclusive instruction in ecology and evolutionary biology courses and beyond.
Breanna N. Harris,Pumtiwitt C. McCarthy,April M. Wright,Heidi Schutz,Kate S. Boersma,Stephanie L. Shepherd,Lathiena A. Manning,Jessica L. Malisch,Roni Ellington +8 more
TL;DR: This paper advocates that instructors use inclusive teaching practices, specifically through active learning, in their online classes, and offers broadly applicable strategies and techniques that weave together active and inclusive Teaching practices.

The role of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal/interrenal axis in mediating predator-avoidance trade-offs.
Breanna N. Harris,James A. Carr +1 more
TL;DR: Weight of evidence indicates that exposure to predator cues inhibits several aspects of foraging and reproduction, and the evidence from fish and mammals supports the hypothesis that predator cues activate the HPA/HPI axis, while the existing data in other vertebrates are equivocal.

Effects of repeated pup exposure on behavioral, neural, and adrenocortical responses to pups in male California mice (Peromyscus californicus)
TL;DR: It is suggested that previous experience with pups can facilitate the onset of parental behavior in male California mice, similar to findings in female rodents, and that this effect is not associated with a general reduction in neophobia.
