Convolutional Neural Network Based Fault Detection for Rotating Machinery
Olivier Janssens,Viktor Slavkovikj,Bram Vervisch,Kurt Stockman,Mia Loccufier,Steven Verstockt,Rik Van de Walle,Sofie Van Hoecke +7 more
TL;DR: A feature learning model for condition monitoring based on convolutional neural networks is proposed to autonomously learn useful features for bearing fault detection from the data itself and significantly outperforms the classical feature-engineering based approach which uses manually engineered features and a random forest classifier.

C mineralization and microbial activity in four biochar field experiments several years after incorporation
Nele Ameloot,Steven Sleutel,Sean D.C. Case,Giorgio Alberti,Niall P. McNamara,Costanza Zavalloni,Bram Vervisch,Gemini Delle Vedove,Stefaan De Neve +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, soil was sampled from biochar-amended and control plots of four biochar field trials at Lincoln (UK), Rivignano, Rocca Bernarda and Beano in Italy.

Online Identification of a Mechanical System in Frequency Domain Using Sliding DFT
Niko Nevaranta,Stijn Derammelaere,Jukka Parkkinen,Bram Vervisch,Tuomo Lindh,Kurt Stockman,Markku Niemela,Olli Pyrhonen,Juha Pyrhonen +8 more
TL;DR: A closed-loop online identification method is presented that is based on a sliding discrete Fourier transform at a selected set of frequencies and is experimentally validated by a closed- loop controlled servomechanism with a limited stroke and time-varying parameters.

The Efficiency of Hybrid Stepping Motors: Analyzing the Impact of Control Algorithms
Stijn Derammelaere,Bram Vervisch,Frederik De Belie,Bart Vanwalleghem,Johannes Cottyn,P. Cox,Griet Van den Abeele,Kurt Stockman,Lieven Vandevelde +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of the control algorithm on the efficiency of the motor is analyzed, measured, and discussed, and the basic open-loop full-, half-, and micro-stepping algorithms are considered together with a more advanced vector control algorithm.

Comparing MCSA with vibration analysis in order to detect bearing faults — A case study
Bram Corne,Bram Vervisch,Colin Debruyne,Jos Knockaert,Jan Desmet +4 more
- 10 May 2015
TL;DR: In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of vibration analysis and Stator current analysis are compared from a practical point of view, supplemented with a case study of bearing fault detection in an induction machine driven by a frequency converter.
