A comprehensive survey on Software as a Service (SaaS) transformation for the automotive systems

Service-oriented architectures are emerging as a promising solution to deal with the increasing complexity of automotive software systems. In this paper, we conduct a systematic mapping study to investigate the use of service-oriented architecture for the development of automotive software systems. This study aims at providing publication trends, available architectural solutions, core benefits and open challenges in the automotive service-oriented architectures. From an initial set of 341 peer-reviewed publications, we select 28 primary studies, which are classified and analysed using a systematic and comprehensive protocol. Using the extracted data, we provide both quantitative and qualitative analyses using vertical and orthogonal analysis. The results indicate that there has been a significant increase in the number of publications recently, and that the studies focused on defining functionalities and data flows among them. Functional suitability is found to be the most recognised benefit while security, safety and reliability are the most addressed challenges when utilising service-oriented architectures in the automotive domain.

Automotive Service-oriented Architectures: a Systematic Mapping Study

A mobile phone is an electronic device used for communication and messaging. Nowadays it has become a very popular and essential need for people. Damages are caused to mobile phones on a regular basis. These damages may include, screen breakage, battery problems or camera problems. Therefore, repairing and servicing of mobile phones is required. We have proposed an idea of an online mobile repair system that permits a customer to submit repair services that serve customers online. The online mobile repair and shopping system presents an online display of mobile products and an associated delivery window for items selected by the customer. For repairing the mobile, the customer can select the problem he is facing out of the general problems stated and the repair shop person will be sent to his house for picking up the mobile and the mobile will be repaired and given back to him. Though branded companies have their own service centre the demand for repairing of mobile phones is very high therefore more service centres are required.

A Structured Analysis and Design of a Mobile Repair Development System using a Grady Booch Approach

In response to the evolving media representation of the Gaza-Israel conflict, this study aims to categorize news articles based on their bias towards specific entities. Our primary objective is to annotate news articles with labels that indicate their bias: “Unbiased”, “Biased against Palestine”, “Biased against Israel”, “Biased against both Palestine and Israel”, “Biased against others”, “Unclear”, or “Not Applicable”.The methodology involves a detailed annotation process where each article is carefully reviewed and labeled according to predefined guidelines. For instance, an article reporting factual events without derogatory language is labeled as “Unbiased”, while one using inflammatory language against Palestinians is marked as “Biased against Palestine”.Key findings include the identification of various degrees of bias in news articles, highlighting the importance of critical analysis in media consumption. This research contributes to the broader effort of understanding media bias and promoting unbiased journalism. Tools such as Google Drive and Google Sheets facilitated the annotation process, enabling efficient collaboration and data management among the annotators.Our work also includes comprehensive guidelines and examples to ensure consistent annotation, enhancing the reliability of the data.

Many people today watch news videos to get informed. However, news videos can frame information differently and be prone to bias that might lead to miscommunication. Bias is ubiquitous andinherent in interactions between news consumers’ groups, but framing can introduce additional bias in news communications. Citizens that interpret the news have different political orientations and, thus, understand them differently. Experts can be more capable of detecting biased or differently framed information. However, the ever-increasing amount of news videos also make it difficult for experts alone to analyze. While automated methods exist for identifying different types of bias, frame detection approaches, namely episodic and thematic framing, are scarce and focused on texts. In this work, we address the issue of scalable thematic and episodic frame detection in news videos through crowdsourcing and machine learning techniques. We design a crowdsourcing task for annotating thematic and episodic framing in videos with the help of domain experts in political and social sciences. We then use the annotations gathered from experts and crowds to investigate whether machine learning methods can scale up the annotation process by automatically labelling videos on episodic and thematic framing. Our results indicate that framing analysis is a challenging task, both for humans and machines, with high disagreement amongst experts and crowd annotators. Nevertheless, our results suggest that machine learning has potential by combining crowd and expert annotations and building upon them a classifier.

Online news has become a major source of news especially for younger generation. However, it is evident that certain media outlets report biased news. This bias can cause harmful effects on society thus democracy. There have been various attempts to identify and mitigate bias in news. At the same time various successful crowdsourcing platforms have emerged as many internet users are now active participants than passive readers. Some of these techniques have been already used related to online news sector. In this article we investigate how online participation techniques have been used in crowdsourcing and how lessons from crowdsourcing platforms can be used further to fight against biased news. New means to mitigate biased online news are proposed and discussed in the end.

This paper looks at performance aspects of applying object-oriented design patterns to databases mainly on the level of computational complexity. Considering selected patterns that may be applied on both application and database layer, algorithm complexity is evaluated. The authors focus on purely theoretical computational complexity of given algorithms and presents our preliminary research in this area which tries to be independent on individual database vendors and their particular implementations leading to a simple apple-to-apple comparison of the performance impact to the applying of the given patternization technique.
