Knockout of zebrafish desmin genes does not cause skeletal muscle degeneration but alters calcium flux.
Gülsüm Kayman Kürekçi,Ecem Kural Mangit,Cansu Koyunlar,Cansu Koyunlar,Seyda Unsal,Seyda Unsal,Berk Saglam,Bora Ergin,Merve Gizer,Ismail Uyanik,Niloufar Boustanabadimaralan Düz,Petek Korkusuz,Beril Talim,Nuhan Purali,Simon M. Hughes,Pervin Dinçer +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, two desmin paralogs (desma and desmb) exist in zebra fish and were shown to have differential spatiotemporal expression during zebrafish embryonic and larval development, being similarly expressed in skeletal muscle until hatching.

Cloning of a putative sodium/calcium exchanger gene in the crayfish
Bora Ergin,Nuhan Purali +1 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the qPCR data indicated that the putative crayfish sodium/calcium exchanger gene has the highest expression level in the ganglia, but an apparently elevated level of expression is observed in highly active tissues like heart, muscle and intestine, while the least expression level was observed in the stomach samples.

Comparison of the efficiency and relevancy of reference genes in crayfish tissue samples / Kerevit doku örneklerinde referans genlerin geçerlilik ve etkinliğinin karşılaştırılması
Bora Ergin,Nuhan Purali +1 more
TL;DR: It is conceivable to propose that among all the genes investigated in the present study, expression level of ribosomal 18S RNA is the most homogeneously distributed one within the body parts of the crayfish.

Functional analysis of AQP2 mutants found in patients with diabetes insipidus
Tugce Karaduman,Merve Özcan Türkmen,Emel Saglar Ozer,Bora Ergin,Berk Saglam,Beril Erdem Tuncdemir,Hatice Mergen +6 more
TL;DR: Studies on the intracellular functions of mutant water channels are important because these studies elucidate the mechanisms leading to disease phenotype and support development of pharmacological strategies related to pathological mechanisms.
