Antibacterial Diamines Targeting Bacterial Membranes
Bo Wang,Boobalan Pachaiyappan,Jordon D. Gruber,Michael G. Schmidt,Yong-Mei Zhang,Patrick M. Woster +5 more
TL;DR: A series of substituted diamines that produce rapid bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and stationary-phase bacteria, represent a new class of broad-spectrum antibacterials against drug-resistant pathogens.

Enhanced degradation of fomesafen by a rhizobial strain Sinorhizobium sp. W16 in symbiotic association with soybean
Wei Chen,Yan Gao,Gaoling Shi,Jiangye Li,Guangping Fan,Chenye Yang,Bo Wang,Fei Tong,Yuntao Li +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a fomesafen-degrading rhizobium was isolated from a soybean nodule, and three metabolites were identified by liquid chromatography and time-of-flight mass spectrometry, revealing strain W16 was the first strain isolated to catalyze the cleavage of ether bond of fomesafeen.

Development of Topical Treatment for Pseudomonas aeruginosa Wound Infections by Quorum-Sensing Inhibitors Mediated by Poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) Dendrimers
Yong-Mei Zhang,Xiangdong Bi,Kristopher Virga,Wei Chen,Jordon Gruber,Bo Wang +5 more
- 01 Jan 2013
TL;DR: The most significant finding was the specific inhibition of PAMAM dendrimers on Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) biofilm formation and growth, which significantly enhanced the inhibition of PA biofilm growth by antibiotic such as amikacin.
Apolipoprotein E mimetic peptide COG1410 combats pandrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii
Bo Wang,Fengxiang Zhang,Weixiao Wang,Yan Zhao,Susan Sun,Jinsuh Yu,Michael P. Vitek,Ge Li,Rui Ma,Shiwei Wang,Zhiliang Hu,Wei Chen +11 more
TL;DR: COG1410 showed potent antimicrobial activity against pandrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, even eliminating large inocula within 30 min, and combined therapy of COG1410 and polymyxin B was capable of significantly rescuing the infected nematodes.
