The N-terminus of PrP is responsible for interacting with tubulin and fCJD related PrP mutants possess stronger inhibitive effect on microtubule assembly in vitro.
Chenfang Dong,Song Shi,Xiao-Fan Wang,Run An,Ping Li,Jian-Ming Chen,Xin Wang,Gui-Rong Wang,Bing Shan,Bao-Yun Zhang,Jun Han,Xiao-Ping Dong +11 more
TL;DR: The molecular interaction between PrP and tubulin was confirmed using pull-down assays, immunoprecipitation and ELISA and the familial Cruetzfeldt Jacob disease related PrP mutants with inserted or deleted octapeptide repeats showed much stronger inhibitive capacities on the microtubule dynamics in vitro than wild-type PrP.

Clinical, histopathological and genetic studies in a family with fatal familial insomnia.
Xiao-Hong Shi,Jun Han,Jin Zhang,Qi Shi,Jian-Ming Chen,Shengli Xia,Zhiqiang Xie,Xiao-Jing Shen,Bing Shan,Yan-Jun Lei,Song Shi,Wei Zhou,Bao-Yun Zhang,Chen Gao,Ying-Hui Liu,Juan Song,Yan-Jun Guo,De-Xin Wang,Bianli Xu,Xiao-Ping Dong +19 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the pedigree of this family has led to the identification of an additional 9 family members who had similar clinical symptoms and 9 currently healthy individuals with the D178N mutation.

Different expression patterns of CK2 subunits in the brains of experimental animals and patients with transmissible spongiform encephalopathies.
Jian-Ming Chen,Chen Gao,Qi Shi,Bing Shan,Yan-Jun Lei,Yan-Jun Lei,Chenfang Dong,Run An,Run An,Gui-Rong Wang,Bao-Yun Zhang,Jun Han,Xiao-Ping Dong +12 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that alterations of CK2 subunits in brains are illness-correlative phenomena in TSEs and indicate a potential linkage of CK1 changes with the pathogenesis of prion diseases.

Molecular interaction between prion protein and GFAP both in native and recombinant forms in vitro
Chenfang Dong,Xiao-Fan Wang,Xin Wang,Xin Wang,Song Shi,Gui-Rong Wang,Bing Shan,Run An,Run An,Xiaoli Li,Bao-Yun Zhang,Jun Han,Xiao-Ping Dong +12 more
TL;DR: The study of the association of PrP with GFAP supplies the molecular evidence for the observation of co-localization ofPrPSc and GFAP in the brains of TSEs and may further provide insight into a potential role of GF AP in the biological function of Prp and the pathogenesis of prion diseases.

Casein kinase II interacts with prion protein in vitro and forms complex with native prion protein in vivo
Jian-Ming Chen,Chen Gao,Qi Shi,Gui-Rong Wang,Yan-Jun Lei,Bing Shan,Bao-Yun Zhang,Chenfang Dong,Song Shi,Xin Wang,Chan Tian,Jun Han,Xiao-Ping Dong +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the full-length sequences of human CK2alpha and CK2beta complementary DNA were amplified with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction using the total messenger RNA from cell line SH-SY5Y as the template.
