A robust and fast skew detection algorithm for generic documents
Bin Yu,Anil K. Jain +1 more
TL;DR: A robust and fast skew detection algorithm based on hierarchical Hough transform that is capable of detecting the skew angle for various document images, including technical articles, postal labels, handwritten text, forms, drawings and bar codes is proposed.

Lane boundary detection using a multiresolution Hough transform
Bin Yu,Anil K. Jain +1 more
- 26 Oct 1997
TL;DR: This work uses the Hough transform to detect lane boundaries with a parabolic model under a variety of road pavement types, lane structures and weather conditions and shows that the proposed method is relatively less prone to the image noise and is computationally tractable.
Character Level based Detection of DGA Domain Names
Bin Yu,Jie Pan,Jiaming Hu,Anderson C. A. Nascimento,Martine De Cock +4 more
- 08 Jul 2018
TL;DR: Training and evaluating on a dataset with 2M domain names shows that there is surprisingly little difference between various convolutional neural network and recurrent neural network based architectures in terms of accuracy, prompting a preference for the simpler architectures, since they are faster to train and to score, and less prone to overfitting.
Inline DGA Detection with Deep Networks
Bin Yu,Daniel L. Gray,Jie Pan,Martine De Cock,Anderson C. A. Nascimento +4 more
- 01 Nov 2017
TL;DR: This work proposes a novel way to label a large volume of data collected from real traffic as DGA/non-DGA and by using deep learning techniques, which can be trained with large amounts of real traffic, rather than small synthetic data sets, and therefore have better performance.

Dictionary Extraction and Detection of Algorithmically Generated Domain Names in Passive DNS Traffic
Mayana Pereira,Shaun Coleman,Bin Yu,Martine DeCock,Anderson C. A. Nascimento +4 more
- 10 Sep 2018
TL;DR: This paper design and implement a method called WordGraph for extracting dictionaries used by the Domain Generation Algorithms (DGAs) solely DNS traffic, which gives an efficient mechanism for detecting Dictionary-AGDs, without any need for reverse engineering to extract dictionaries.
