Characteristics of bone turnover in the long bone metaphysis fractured patients with normal or low Bone Mineral Density (BMD).
Christoph Wölfl,Daniela Schweppenhäuser,Thorsten Gühring,Caner Takur,Bernd Höner,Ulrich Kneser,Paul Alfred Grützner,Leila Kolios +7 more
TL;DR: First insights into the molecular biology of the fracture healing process in patients with low levels of BMD are conducted that explains the mechanism of its fracture healing.
Time course of 25(OH)D3 vitamin D3 as well as PTH (parathyroid hormone) during fracture healing of patients with normal and low bone mineral density (BMD)
Christoph Wölfl,Sarah Englert,Arash Moghaddam,G. Zimmermann,Heinrich Schmidt-Gayk,Bernd Höner,Aidan Hogan,Marcus Lehnhardt,Paul Alfred Grützner,Leila Kolios +9 more
TL;DR: The time course of 25(OH)D3 and PTH during fracture healing of patients with normal and low bone mineral density were examined for the first time in humans in this setting, allowing molecular biological insights into fracture healing in metaphyseal bones on a molecural level.
The vascularized periosteum flap as novel tissue engineering model for repair of cartilage defects
Leila Harhaus,Leila Harhaus,Jung-Ju Huang,Shu-Wei Kao,Yen-Lin Wu,Gina A. Mackert,Bernd Höner,Ming-Huei Cheng,Ulrich Kneser,Chao-Min Cheng +9 more
TL;DR: It is proved that vascularization of the periosteum flap is the essential step for flap survival and enables the flap to transform into cartilage and Reconstruction of circumscript cartilage defects seems to be possible.

Influence of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) on bone turnover markers in organisms with normal and low bone mineral density during fracture healing: a randomized clinical trial.
Christoph Wölfl,Laura Schuster,Bernd Höner,Sarah Englert,Roman Klein,Christoph Hirche,Matthias Münzberg,Paul Alfred Grützner,Ulrich Kneser,Leila Harhaus +9 more
TL;DR: ESWT as treatment option of fractures in patients with low BMD can lead to an equilibration of levels of bone turnover markers to the levels of patients with normal BMD, as well as vitamin D3 and iPTH, during fracture healing.

Characteristics of bone metabolism markers during the healing of osteoporotic versus nonosteoporotic metaphyseal long bone fractures: a matched pair analysis
Leila Kolios,M. Hitzler,A. Moghaddam,C. Takur,H. Schmidt-Gayk,Bernd Höner,Marcus Lehnhardt,Paul Alfred Grützner,C. Wölfl +8 more
TL;DR: The early decrease of reduced β-CTX as well as elevated BAP during the healing process may be the first aspects within the delayed healing of osteoporotic bone.
