Biochemical and molecular characterization of a detergent-stable serine alkaline protease from Bacillus pumilus CBS with high catalytic efficiency.
TL;DR: The purified recombinant enzyme (rSAPB) has the same physicochemical and kinetic properties as the native one and is strongly inhibited by PMSF and DFP, showing that it belongs to the serine proteases superfamily.

Enhancement of the thermostability and the catalytic efficiency of Bacillus pumilus CBS protease by site-directed mutagenesis
TL;DR: Kinetic studies of double and triple mutants showed that the cumulative effect of polar uncharged substitutions had a synergistic effect on the P1 position preference using synthetic peptide substrates, which confirms the implication of these amino acids in substrate recognition and catalytic efficiency.

Exploring the acidotolerance of β-galactosidase from Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus: an attractive enzyme for lactose bioconversion
Moez Rhimi,Nushin Aghajari,Bassem Jaouadi,Michel Juy,Samira Boudebbouze,Emmanuelle Maguin,Richard Haser,Samir Bejar +7 more
TL;DR: These beta-galactosidases are interesting at the industrial level for hydrolysis of lactose extracted from whey or milk, and thus could contribute to overcoming the lactose intolerance problem generated by milk products.

- 01 Aug 2011
TL;DR: Of particular interest to the aims of the present work, proteases have often been reported to constitute a resourceful class of enzymes with promising industrial applications, particularly because they possess almost all the characteristics desired for biotechnological applications.
