GI Endoscopy Sedation in Patients with Cirrhosis: Routine or Unpredictable?
TL;DR: Sedating patients with cirrhosis undergoing gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy procedures poses unique challenges as the derangement of synthetic and metabolic functions of the liver affects the pharmacokinetics of the sedative medications, and the degree of encephalopathy can influence the pharmacodynamic properties of these drugs.

TL;DR: It is suggested that recently launched LMA-GastromTM is one such device with potential to decrease the risk of hypoxemia, although it is unsure of its potential effects on therisk of aspiration and its immediate management and one must incorporate these new devices in sedation practice after discussion with the gastroenterologist.
