Liposomal delivery of a Pin1 inhibitor complexed with cyclodextrins as new therapy for high-grade serous ovarian cancer
Concetta Russo Spena,Lucia De Stefano,Stefano Palazzolo,Barbara Salis,Carlotta Granchi,Filippo Minutolo,Tiziano Tuccinardi,Roberto Fratamico,Sara Crotti,Sara D'Aronco,Marco Agostini,Giuseppe Corona,Isabella Caligiuri,Vincenzo Canzonieri,Flavio Rizzolio +14 more
TL;DR: It is shown that Pin1 is an important therapeutic target in high‐grade serous epithelial ovarian cancer and the first liposomal formulation of a Pin1 inhibitor was found to be effective in curbing ovarian tumor growth in vivo.

Strategies to optimize siRNA delivery to hepatocellular carcinoma cells.
Lucia Scarabel,Francesca Perrone,Marica Garziera,Rossella Farra,Mario Grassi,Francesco Musiani,Concetta Russo Spena,Barbara Salis,Lucia De Stefano,Giuseppe Toffoli,Flavio Rizzolio,Federica Tonon,Michela Abrami,Gianluca Chiarappa,Gabriele Pozzato,Giancarlo Forte,Gabriele Grassi,Barbara Dapas +17 more
TL;DR: Despite the existing difficulties in siRNA delivery for HCC, the increasing scientific attention and breakthrough studies in this field is facilitating the design of novel and efficient technical solutions that may soon find practical applications.

First-of-its-kind STARD3 Inhibitor: In Silico Identification and Biological Evaluation as Anticancer Agent
Margherita Lapillo,Barbara Salis,Stefano Palazzolo,Giulio Poli,Carlotta Granchi,Filippo Minutolo,Rossella Rotondo,Isabella Caligiuri,Vincenzo Canzonieri,Tiziano Tuccinardi,Flavio Rizzolio +10 more
TL;DR: The identified compound VS1 binds STARD3 with micromolar affinity and shows antiproliferative activity in breast and colon cancer cell lines in the same concentration range and it is demonstrated that it specifically targets STard3 in the cells and induces its degradation.
Polymer-Mediated Delivery of siRNAs to Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Variables Affecting Specificity and Effectiveness
Rossella Farra,Francesco Musiani,Francesca Perrone,Maja Čemažar,Urska Kamensek,Federica Tonon,Michela Abrami,Aleš Ručigaj,Mario Grassi,Gabriele Pozzato,Deborah Bonazza,Fabrizio Zanconati,Giancarlo Forte,Maguie El Boustani,Lucia Scarabel,Marica Garziera,Concetta Russo Spena,Lucia De Stefano,Barbara Salis,Giuseppe Toffoli,Flavio Rizzolio,Gabriele Grassi,Barbara Dapas +22 more
TL;DR: This work focuses on the most recent findings in the selection of siRNA/polymeric targeted delivery systems for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a human tumor for which currently available therapeutic approaches are poorly effective.
