Rorγt+ innate lymphocytes and γδ T cells initiate psoriasiform plaque formation in mice
Stanislav Pantelyushin,Stefan Haak,Barbara Ingold,Paulina Kulig,Frank L. Heppner,Alexander A. Navarini,Burkhard Becher +6 more
TL;DR: It is established that RORγt(+) innate lymphocytes and γδ T cells are necessary and sufficient for psoriatic plaque formation in an experimental disease model that closely resembles human psoriasis.
Primary oligodendrocyte death does not elicit anti-CNS immunity
Giuseppe Locatelli,Simone Wörtge,Thorsten Buch,Thorsten Buch,Barbara Ingold,Friederike Frommer,Bettina Sobottka,Martin Krüger,Khalad Karram,Claudia Bühlmann,Ingo Bechmann,Frank L. Heppner,Ari Waisman,Burkhard Becher +13 more
TL;DR: This paper showed that diffuse oligodendrocyte death alone or in conjunction with immune activation does not trigger anti-CNS immunity, and this lack of reactivity was not mediated by enhanced myelin-specific tolerance.

Wnt signalling inhibits neural differentiation of embryonic stem cells by controlling bone morphogenetic protein expression.
Lorenz Haegele,Barbara Ingold,Heike Naumann,Ghazaleh Tabatabai,Birgit Ledermann,Sebastian Brandner,Sebastian Brandner +6 more
TL;DR: This work studied the effect of wnt signalling in embryonic stem cells by either inactivating APC or by introducing a dominant active form of beta-catenin, finding that neural differentiation could be partially restored by the addition of the BMP antagonist noggin.

αv-Integrin isoform expression in primary human tumors and brain metastases.
Alexander Vogetseder,Svenja Thies,Barbara Ingold,Patrick Roth,Michael Weller,Peter Schraml,Simon L. Goodman,Holger Moch +7 more
TL;DR: The stronger αv‐integrin expression in brain metastases, especially of αvβ3 and αv β8 integrins, suggests that certain αv integrin are involved in the process of brain metastasis, and may be therapeutic targets for patients with metastatic cancer in brain.

Abdominal seeding of an atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor of the pineal gland along a ventriculoperitoneal shunt catheter.
Barbara Ingold,Michael Moschopulos,Gregor Hutter,Harald Seeger,Benno Röthlisberger,H. Landolt,Yasuhiro Yonekawa,Wolfram Jochum,Frank L. Heppner +8 more
TL;DR: Histological, immunohistochemical and FISH results were consistent with the diagnosis of AT/RT, which was confirmed by the Brain Tumor Reference Center of the German Society of Neuropathology and Neuroanatomy.
