Potential of PVA-doped bacterial nano-cellulose tubular composites for artificial blood vessels
TL;DR: The results indicated that PVA impregnated into BNC tubes and then significantly improved the properties of BNC, especially the mechanical properties and water permeability, which could constitute new biomaterial candidates for vascular grafts.

Performance improvements of the BNC tubes from unique double-silicone-tube bioreactors by introducing chitosan and heparin for application as small-diameter artificial blood vessels.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated the heparinized BNC-based tubes have great potential in application as small-diameter vascular prosthesis as well as anticoagulation and endothelialization using EDC/NHS crosslinking.

Physicochemical Properties and In Vitro Biocompatibility of Three Bacterial Nanocellulose Conduits for Blood Vessel Applications.
TL;DR: Following comprehensive evaluation of mechanical properties and performance, it is judged that D-B NC and G-BNC should possess greater potential in application as small caliber vascular grafts, however the patency of the three BNC conduits need be further verified in animal studies in vivo.

Implantation of air-dried bacterial nanocellulose conduits in a small-caliber vascular prosthesis rabbit model
TL;DR: BNC-Dry conduits exhibited excellent performance and possessed properties convenient for surgical applications as small-diameter blood vessels, and were superior to conduits of BNC-Gel.
