Abstract There are contexts where communication with TCP/IP protocol is not possible due to the lack of infrastructure or a reliable and continuous data transmission. In this cases, alternatives such as Opportunistic Networks (OPPNets) are valid. Such challenging conditions are common in rural areas and are a significant obstacle for the deployment of eHealth technologies for older adults. Considering this context, the present work introduces Interest-based System for Communication in Isolated Areas (ISCA), an OPPNet architecture for remote monitoring and emergency detection in ageing people who live alone. For this, the energetic requirements are considered, providing efficient and sustainable operation. The proposal makes use of a routing algorithm based on interests which enables asynchronous communication among entities. ISCA is evaluated over a realistic scenario and compared with similar state-of-the-art solutions. Experimental results show that ISCA notably improves the delivery probability with an enhancement of 52.25% in comparison to the second best alternative and provides a suitable average latency. Moreover, it also achieves better performance in terms of overhead and hops number compared to the other studied protocols

A self-sustainable opportunistic solution for emergency detection in ageing people living in rural areas

Healthcare is one of the basic needs for human beings. Unfortunately, a densely populated country like Bangladesh has always struggled to provide adequate healthcare to all of its people, especially to the rural population. To handle with huge amount of data and coordination between the doctors and patients, electronic health record system (EHR) has become a necessity. During this Covid-19 pandemic, face to face consultation between frontline workers like doctors, and nurse and patients has become difficult. As a result, many patients are having difficulty in getting treatment from doctors. In Bangladesh’s perspective at this moment, a cost effective, energy efficient and portable device system is needed to build up a customized Electronic health record system. The proposed system can reduce medical errors about patient identification and treatment, increase effectiveness and timeliness of doctors and overall improve the health care of people of the rural area. Therefore, an easy to use, affordable, user-friendly E customized EHR system design is proposed in this paper by utilizing recent wireless communication techniques that will give the rural people better health service.

Design of a cost-effective customized Electronic Health Record system tohandle patient management during Covid-19 pandemic

Data may be kept private, secure, and authentic via cryptography. Computational resources and communication channel performance impede the development of an efficient key generation model in IoT devices for encryption and decryption applications. Most IoT networks encode information with session keys, which are less secure than dynamic key encryption used in communication channels. Furthermore, because of the resource limitations of most IoT networks, it is impractical to use the current dynamic key generation approaches. To solve these problems, a dynamic key generator model has been designed that continuously generates unique keys in the range of 1000–10,000,000. We also discuss our proposed model’s security and performance analysis to validate the feasibility of its operation in such a resource-constrained IoT environment. 

An Improvised Algorithm for a Dynamic Key Generation Model

The bird repellent combines sound and shock systems embedded with a simple monitoring system to overview the system's whole activity. The system uses a 4kHz audio frequency proven to be audible to doves and pigeon's hearing. A shock is used and proven tested to induce pain but not lethal to doves and pigeons. This technical research project mainly aims to design circuitry to release electric shock and the modulated audible frequency, develop a program to monitor the birds' occurrence, build the device, and perform a field function test. The system utilizes Raspberry Pi 3 and motion sensors such as ultrasonic and PIR sensors to trigger the whole system and its logging automatically. After a series of tests, the device effectively repels doves and pigeons in the treated area. The T-test value resulted to 10.25, which is greater than t(0.05,19) = 2.093, indicates that the treatment resulted significantly positive after being applied on the test subjects and a Pearson coefficient value of −0.95 demonstrates that the more treatments applied to the infected area, the lesser the population of the birds. Thus, the device can be used in deterring birds not just in urban areas but in farmlands as well.

Development of Modulated Audible Frequency and Electric Shock Repellent for Rock Dove and Pigeon with Monitoring System

Over the years, teaching methodologies have developed from white chalk board to projectors to smart online teaching now. All the practices except projectors involve direct contact with board. In a typical presentation, a presenter has to depend on an operator to control the functionalities of a mouse. And in a worse situation where he has to operate all by himself, he is compelled to interact with a computer more than the audience. This paper aims at developing a handheld laser device incorporated with buttons for left and right clicks to emulate the working of a mouse. A camera captures the image of projected screen continuously. Through Digital Image Processing (DIP), the location of laser is analyzed along with the clicks and this information is communicated to the PC to operate. This project also aims towards the advancement of projector usage by correcting keystone automatically and the tasks of remote control are achieved by commands given by user through keyboard interface. Thus, the remote to control projector can be excluded.
