Chronic motor cortex stimulation in the treatment of central and neuropathic pain. Correlations between clinical, electrophysiological and anatomical data.
Jean-Paul Nguyen,Jean-Pascal Lefaucheur,P. Decq,Takuya Uchiyama,Alexandre Carpentier,Denis Fontaine,Pierre Brugières,B. Pollin,Annaick Fève,Sylvie Rostaing,Pierre Cesaro,Yves Keravel +11 more
TL;DR: The neuronavigator localisation and guidance technique proved to be most useful identifying the appropriate portion of the motor gyrus which allowed the establishment of reliable correlations between electrophysiological-clinical and anatomical data which may be used to improve the clinical results and possibly to extend the indications of this technique.

Outcome of bilateral subthalamic nucleus stimulation in the treatment of Parkinson's disease: correlation with intra-operative multi-unit recordings but not with the type of anaesthesia
Jean-Pascal Lefaucheur,Jean-Marc Gurruchaga,B. Pollin,Florian von Raison,Nabil Mohsen,Masahiro Shin,Isabelle Ménard-Lefaucheur,Satoru Oshino,Haruhiko Kishima,Gilles Fénelon,Philippe Remy,Pierre Cesaro,Inana Gabriel,Pierre Brugières,Yves Keravel,Jean-Paul Nguyen +15 more
TL;DR: This study confirmed the efficacy of the STN-DBS technique and emphasized the value of an original intra-operative electrophysiological approach based on multi-unit and not single-unit quantified recordings.

Preliminary Report on the Effect of Ketamine in Patients with Central Pain
Sylvie Rostaing-Rigatti,Pierre Cesaro,Jean-Paul Nguyen,Jean-François Ejzenbaum,B. Pollin,Francis Bonnet +5 more
TL;DR: Ketamine provided a significant improvement in pain at rest and in evoked pain and blockade of NMDA receptors may provide pain relief in patients suffering from CPSP.

Traitement des douleurs centrales et neuropathiques faciales par stimulation chronique du cortex moteur : Intérêt des systèmes de neuronavigation pour le repérage du cortex moteur : Le neurochirurgien et la douleur chronique
Jean-Paul Nguyen,Jean-Pascal Lefaucheur,C. Le Guerinel,Denys Fontaine,N. Nakano,Laurent Sakka,J. F. Eizenbaum,B. Pollin,Yves Keravel +8 more
TL;DR: L'organisation somatotopique du cortex moteur a ete etablie par l'etude des reponses motrices apres stimulation corticale transdurale par reconstructions scanographiques superficielles and guidage par neuronavigation.
