Electron internal transport barrier sustained with IBW and LHCD on the HT-7 tokamak

The LHCD phase control system is designed to study plasma physics on the EAST tokamak. The I/Q method with AD8302 is applied to the system for measuring the signals' phase difference and FPGA chips are used to compute and communicate. The application software including the driver of PCI card is designed under the QNX RTOS and the MDSplus database is used to store and manage the phase data. Besides, the correctness and reliability of the system have been proved by experiments. Keywords-LHCD; phase; QNX; AD8302; MDSplus

The Design of LHCD Phase Control System Based on QNX Operating System

Due to the decrease of the relativistic cyclotron frequency and increase of the Larmor radius with an increase in runaway electron energy, cyclotron harmonic interaction between runaway electrons and lower hybrid waves (LHWs) may occur. In this paper, the anomalous Doppler resonance interaction between runaway electrons and launched LHWs has been investigated in the HT-7 tokamak.

Hot electrical conductivity in lower hybrid current drive plasmas in the HT-7 tokamak

Lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) experiments have been carried out to achieve high performance for long pulse operation in the Hefei tokamak-7 (HT-7) superconducting tokamak. Multifaceted asymmetric radiation from the edge (MARFE) phenomena and an improved confinement mode induced by a MARFE are observed in LHCD plasmas when PLH>160 kW and the edge safety factor q(a) is slightly less than 6.5. It is found that an improved confinement mode induced by a MARFE, characterized by Hα line emissions drops and the line-averaged density increase is triggered in the MARFE discharges. The MARFE event occurs at t=1120 ms following the L–H transition, and the improved confinement phase exists for about 65 ms from t=1140 ms after the L–H transition. The LHCD plasma results basically are typical with MARFEs and it is an improved confinement mode; they are unique in that they appear at very low values in the HT -7 tokamak.
