The field experiment was conducted during Rabi season 2013-14 to evaluate the effect of different fertility level and micronutrients on nodulation and nutrient uptake of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) to fertility levels and micronutrients. Twelve treatments combinations was comprised with three fertility levels -F1:40 kg P2O5 ha-1, F2:60 kg P2O5 + 20 kg S ha-1 and F3:80 kg P2O5 + 40 kg S ha-1 and four micronutrient levels- M0: control, M1:3 kg Zn ha-1, M2:0.3 per cent B spray ha-1 and M3 :3 kg Zn + 0.3 per cent B spray ha-1 were laid out in Spilt Plot Design. The maximum growth, yield, nodulation and nutrient uptake were recorded with higher level of fertility application F3 : 80 kg P2O5 and 40 kg which was significantly superior over lower level of fertility F1 and statistically at par with F2 . Moisture management and zinc fortification in pearlmillet (Pennisetum glaucum L.)-chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) cropping system

This research aims to identify the appropriate sowing period and most yield for varieties of chickpea, which is one of the rare plants that can be an alternative for grain farming and of which there no alternative in Mediterranean climate regions as well as more arid regions. The experiment was conducted during 2014-2016, involving five different chickpea varieties along with five different sowing periods and the yield and base characteristics were analysed. The study focused on yield elements, such as grain yield, nodule number, hydration capacity and C/N rates in the soil. The Sezenbey variety gave the highest yield both for normal years (10th December sowing) and arid years (30th October sowing) with 4050 kg/ha and 610 kg/ha, respectively. On the other hand, the Hasanbey variety had the lowest yield of 350 kg/ha and 110 kg/ha, respectively, in both years when sown on 20th January.

Effect of sowing dates on yield and quality characteristics of chickpea varieties under Mediterranean climate conditions

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of Zypmite fertilizer along with di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) in study. The application of Zypmite exhibited in growth, yield, nutrients uptake and availability of nutrient in soil. Zypmite response, the maximum number of branches (25.8 p-1), test weight (18.5 gm) and grain yield (17.10 q ha-1) was observed with 50 kg P2O5 through DAP + 40 kg S through Zypmite (T6). The nitrogen (69.52 kg ha-1) and phosphorous (7.89 kg ha-1) uptake was also found maximum under T6 and minimum in control (T1). The potassium (39.27 kg ha-1) and sulphur (7.85 kg ha-1) uptake was observed maximum under 50 kg P2O5 through DAP + 20 kg S through Zypmite (T5). After harvesting of crop, available nutrient status was observed higher available nitrogen (243.0 kg ha-1) under T6 and available phosphorous was significantly higher in T2 and T9 (18.0 kg ha-1) as compared to control. Availability of potassium in all treatments was significantly not influenced during both years. The sulphur availability in soil was significantly influenced among treatment and found maximum (23.0 kg ha-1) under 40 kg sulphur through Zypmite (T7). It was observed that Zypmite and chemical fertilizers, enhanced yield and higher uptake of nutrient as well as improved soil fertility.

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of intercropping system, moisture conservation practices and P and S levels on nodulation and productivity of chickpea under rainfed condition on a sandy loam soil at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, during 2008-09 and 2009-10 The treatments comprised of 3 cropping systems (Ethiopian mustard sole, chickpea sole and Ethiopian mustard + Chickpea (1:4) and 2 moisture conservation practices including (control and FYM@ 5t/ha + organic mulch + kaolin 6% spray) as main plot and 5 fertility levels (control, 30 kg P2O5 /ha, 30 kg P2O5 /ha + 15 kg S /ha, 60 kg P2O5 /ha and 60 kg P2O5 + 30 kg S /ha ) as sub-plot replicated thrice in a split-plot design Sole chickpea gave significantly higher yield however, yield attributes and quality parameters were not influenced by intercropping system P and S application influenced significantly the growth attributes, nodulation, leghaemoglobin content, nitrogenase activity, yield components and seed yield
