Megawatt upgrades for the ISIS facility
Thomason Jwg.,D J Adams,Findlay Djs.,Gardner Isk.,B Jones,Alan Letchford,S J Payne,B G Pine,A Seville,Christopher Warsop,R E Williamson,D.C.Plostinar,Christopher Prior,G.H.Rees +13 more
- 01 Jan 2008
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors outline possible schemes for major upgrades to the facility in the megawatt regime, with options for 1, 2 and 5 MW, with the preferred ideas center around new ~3 GeV rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS) designs that can be employed to increase the energy of the existing ISIS beam to provide powers of ~1 MW or, possibly as a second upgrade stage, accumulate and accelerate beam from a new 0.4 − 0.8 GeV linac for 2 − 5 MW beams.

Progress on dual harmonic acceleration on the isis synchrotron
A Seville,D J Adams,C. Appelbee,D. Bayley,N. Farthing,I.S.K. Gardner,M. Glover,B G Pine,J. Thomason,Christopher Warsop +9 more
- 25 Jun 2007
TL;DR: The dual harmonic system has now been used operationally for the first time, running reliably throughout the last ISIS user cycle of 2006 as mentioned in this paper, with the potential to increase the operating current to 300 muA.
Injection upgrades for the isis synchrotron
J. Thomason,H V Smith,Bryan Jones,B G Pine,David Findlay,G.H.Rees,J. Pasternak,R E Williamson,Alan Letchford,S J Payne,Christopher Warsop,S.J.S. Jago,D J Adams,A Seville,Ian Gardner,Christopher Prior,Robert Mathieson +16 more
- 01 Dec 2010
TL;DR: In this article, an initial study of a 180 MeV H charge exchange injection into the ISIS ring was carried out, with simulations of stripping efficiency, beam scattering and foil heating effects, and magnetic and particle tracking models of the injection straight.

High intensity studies on the isis synchrotron, including key factors for upgrades and the effects of half integer resonance
Christopher Warsop,D J Adams,Gardner Isk.,B Jones,Robert Mathieson,S J Payne,B G Pine,Christopher Prior,G.H.Rees,A Seville,H V Smith,Thomason Jwg.,R E Williamson +12 more
- 01 Dec 2010
TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the possibility of increasing beam power by raising injection energy into the existing ring (to ~180 MeV), with a new optimised injector, including: space charge and emittance evolution in the transverse and longitudinal planes, beam stability, and injection optimization.
Status of injection upgrade studies for the isis synchrotron
J. Pasternak,Christopher Prior,H V Smith,Christopher Warsop,David Findlay,J. Thomason,B Jones,S J Payne,I.S.K. Gardner,G.H.Rees,B G Pine,R E Williamson,S.J.S. Jago,A Seville,Robert Mathieson,D J Adams +15 more
- 01 Dec 2011
TL;DR: In this article, the status of studies looking at how a new, higher energy linac (~180 MeV) could be used to increase beam power in the existing synchrotron was summarized.
