Cyclotron resonance in ultra-low-hole-density narrow p-type GaAs/(Al,Ga)As quantum wells
B. E. Cole,J.M. Chamberlain,Mohamed Henini,Tin S. Cheng,W. Batty,A. Wittlin,J.A.A.J. Perenboom,Arzhang Ardavan,A. Polisski,J. Singleton +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the cyclotron resonance (CR) energy is modeled by inter-Landau-level transitions from the highest level, and a discontinuous evolution to a higher effective mass, observed as the second resonance above 8 T, is explained by crossing of the highest two Landau levels.
Collective cyclotron modes in high-mobility two-dimensional hole systems in GaAs-(Ga, Al)As heterojunctions: I. Experiments at low magnetic fields and theory
B. E. Cole,F M Peeters,Arzhang Ardavan,Stephen Hill,John Singleton,W. Batty,J.M. Chamberlain,A Polisskii,Mohamed Henini,Tin S. Cheng +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the cyclotron resonance of very high-mobility two-dimensional holes in GaAs has been studied over the frequency range 30 to 200 GHz, and an analytical expression for the contribution to the high-frequency conductivity due to coupled cycloton motion of the two hole systems is derived and shown to encompass previous theories developed for more restricted ranges of conditions.

High magnetic field millimetre and submillimetre spectroscopy of ultra-high mobility 2D hole systems
Stephen Hill,B. E. Cole,John Singleton,J.M. Chamberlain,P.J. Rodgers,T.J.B.M. Janssen,P.A. Pattenden,B. L. Gallagher,G. Hill,Mohamed Henini +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, cyclotron resonance (CR) experiments covering almost two orders of magnitude of magnetic field and energy were carried out in (311)A GaAs-(Ga,Al)As heterojunctions and features including several distinct CR branches, discontinuities in the CR energy versus field curves, strong nonparabolicity and temperature-dependent effective masses were observed, in reasonable agreement with theoretical predictions.

Saturation absorption studies of intersubband relaxation rates in a p-GaAs/AlGaAs QW using a free electron laser
B. E. Cole,C J G M Langerak,B. N. Murdin,C D Bezant,J.M. Chamberlain,C. R. Pidgeon,Mohamed Henini,V. Nakov +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, saturation absorption studies of the HH1 --> LH1 intersubband transition in a 70 Angstrom p-type GaAs/AlGaAs multi-quantum well are presented.

Far‐infrared intersubband transitions in a two‐dimensional GaAs/(Al,Ga)As hole system: Direct comparison of experiment and calculation
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured far-infrared (FIR) intersubband absorption in two p-type modulation-doped GaAs/(Al,Ga)As multiquantum wells and compared with k⋅p modeling of the two-dimensional heavy and light-hole (HH, LH) subband structure.
