The doping method is considered a proficient technique for enhancing the photocatalytic performance of nanostructures. Herein, doping of Mn into the V2O5 (VO) nanostructure increased their photodegradation capacity toward malachite green dye (MG). Different physical strategy to investigate the physiochemical behavior of the undoped and Mn doped V2O5. Using an aqueous malachite green (MG) solution and xenon light illumination, the degradation capabilities of the manufactured pristine and Mn doped V2O5 were studied. The pristine V2O5 and Mn doped V2O5 nanoarray display a photocatalytic efficiency of 94.79% for MG compared to the pure V2O5 (75.52%). Consistently, doping of Mn into V2O5 was shown to affect the photodegradation of malachite green significantly. Our finding suggests that Mn doped V2O5 nanomaterials act as potential photocatalysts to degrade the MG dye and can act as an environmental cleaner to resolve the other related issues. 

Effect of Mn dopant on physiochemical properties of V2O5 and their photocatalytic application toward mineralization of malachite green (MG) dye

Manganese-doped bismuth ferrites were synthesized using the coprecipitation method with the green extract Azadirachta indica. Our incorporation of the transition element, manganese, into bismuth ferrites tackles the challenge of increased leakage current often observed in intrinsic bismuth ferrites. We gained key insights through a comprehensive examination of the structural, dielectric, and optical properties of these materials, utilizing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), impedance spectroscopy, and UV–visible spectroscopy, respectively. The formation of an octahedral geometry was confirmed using the FTIR technique. UV–visible spectroscopy indicated that 2% Mn doping is optimal, while we obtained a low band gap energy (2.21 eV) and high refractive index (3.010) at this amount of doping. The manufactured materials exhibited the typical ferrite-like dielectric response, that is, the dielectric parameter gradually decreased as the frequency increased and then stayed constant in the high-frequency range. Using the diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical assay, we also examined the antioxidant activity of bismuth ferrites. We concluded that among different Mn-doped BiFeMnO3-based nanomaterials, the 2 wt % Mn-doped BiFeMnO3 shows the highest antioxidant activity. This finding substantiates the efficacy of the optimized material with regard to its potent antioxidant activity, positioning it as a promising candidate for potential biomedical applications.

The quantitative study of antibiotics is significant due to their extensive application in treating many diseases worldwide. Cefixime (Cfx) is a third-generation cephalosporin medicine used as an antibacterial. In the current project, using a ginger root extract, the sol-gel green methodology was used for sodium β-type hexagonal ferrite nanoparticles (NaFe11O17-NPs). The NaFe11O17-NPs were subjected to analytical characterization using X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (BET) analysis, UV-visible spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis. The characterization confirmed the prepared material's crystalline behaviour, surface morphology, particle size, surface area, and magnetic nature. The drop-casting method was used for an efficient electrochemical sensor by modifying a gold electrode (AuE) with sodium β-type hexagonal ferrite nanoparticles NaFe11O17-NPs/AuE to assist the sensitive and selective quantification of Cfx. The fabricated electrochemical method achieved a notably low detection limit of 14 nM. The developed sensor was applied successfully to quantitatively determine Cfx in clinical samples and pharmaceutical preparations with excellent recoveries from 95.20 to 102.48%.
