Trace gas detection with antimonide-based quantum-well diode lasers.
TL;DR: Using these devices an experimental setup for open path gas detection has been developed and their emission wavelength makes them suitable for the detection of many gas species in the wavelength range which corresponds to an atmospheric transmission window.

Continuous-wave operation of type-I quantum well DFB laser diodes emitting in 3.4 μm wavelength range around room temperature
L. Naehle,Sofiane Belahsene,M. von Edlinger,M. Fischer,Guilhem Boissier,Pierre Grech,G. Narcy,Aurore Vicet,Yves Rouillard,J. Koeth,L. Worschech +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a distributed feedback (DFB) laser diodes based on the concept of lateral metal gratings fabricated on type-I quantum well GaInAsSb/AlGaInSb material are presented.

Single-frequency Sb-based distributed-feedback lasers emitting at 2.3 μm above room temperature for application in tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy
Abdelmagid Salhi,D. Barat,Daniele Romanini,Yves Rouillard,A. Ouvrard,R. Werner,Jochen Seufert,J. Koeth,Aurore Vicet,Arnaud Garnache +9 more
TL;DR: The direct absorption of CH4 is demonstrated to be possible with high spectral selectivity and the tuning properties made them adaptable to tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy because they exhibit more than 220 GHz of continuous tuning by temperature or current.
