The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic remarkably accelerated the adoption of telemedicine in outpatient settings. Out of necessity, virtual care became a preferred and default modality of extending primary care services to health care consumers. Although telemedicine is not a new concept and had been used in many organizations and health systems, the COVID-19 pandemic scaled up its use in a variety of health care settings. Telehealth's use in primary care was particularly important because of the need to maintain continuity of care for successful coordination of chronic disease management. This article examines the benefits of telehealth, including continuity of care, convenience of access to care, screening and triaging, and social distancing and disease prevention. The utilization of telehealth and financial implications are discussed, including reimbursement and cost-effectiveness. Barriers and challenges are addressed, including methods for successful implementation of nurse practitioner (NP) in primary care practices as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The leadership role of the NP in telehealth is discussed and implementation guidance is provided.

Mini review: Current status and perspective of S100B protein as a biomarker in daily clinical practice for diagnosis and prognosticating of clinical outcome in patients with neurological diseases with focus on acute brain injury

INTRODUCTION: Telemedicine and mHealth applications constitute a central pillar in the digital transformation of healthcare. 
OBJECTIVE: To describe the efficacy, applicability, and impact of telemedicine and mHealth applications on the monitoring and improvement of health in rural communities in Colombia. 
METHODS: This research was carried out as a systematic review, a type of study that allows for a thorough and replicable evaluation of the existing literature in the databases PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and ERIC. 
RESULTS: A total of 14 studies were included, which encompassed different types of research designs: two case-control studies, two randomized trials, four cross-sectional studies, two qualitative investigations, one consensus study, one retrospective cohort study, and two reviews. The sample size varied significantly among the studies, from 16 participants in the consensus study to 313,897 patients in one of the cross-sectional studies. 
CONCLUSIONS: Telemedicine and mHealth applications are transforming the way medical care is delivered to rural communities in Colombia. These tools have proven to be valuable in improving the detection and management of chronic diseases such as cognitive decline and cardiovascular diseases. At the same time, the implementation of these technologies has shown to be effective in improving the quality of medical care, providing greater access to specialized medical services, and reducing the sense of isolation among health professionals in rural areas.

Presenting professional health services after the COVID-19 pandemic age may be recognized with numerous critical features that did not exist in preceding pandemics. The widespread world web and cyberspace, social media, and technologies for providing remote intelligent health services are the most prominent differences between the recent pandemic and previous ones. Most health-care providers in the pandemic era focus more on the technologies needed to set up telehealth but do not pay enough attention to the strategies and challenges ahead. They are more focused on the lucrative health market in the days of the pandemic but do not have appropriate and dynamic strategies for it. This article addresses the strategies, technologies, and challenges facing telehealth and emphasizes the importance and priority of the necessary strategies, prioritizing technology. 

Strategies, Technologies, and Challenges in the Management of COVID-19 Pandemic by Telehealth

Abstract In the United States, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are among the most persistent threats to health equity. Increasing access to STI prevention and control services through the provision of Remote Health and Telehealth can improve sexual health outcomes. Telehealth has been shown to increase access to care and even improve health outcomes. The increased flexibility offered by Telehealth services accommodates both patient and provider. Although both Telehealth and Remote Health strategies are important for STI prevention, share common attributes, and, in some circumstances, overlap, this article will focus more specifically on considerations for Telehealth and how it can contribute to increasing health equity by offering an important complement to and, in some cases, substitute for in-person STI services for some populations. Telehealth assists a variety of different populations, including those experiencing STI disparities; however, although the Internet offers a promising resource for many American households and increasing percentages of Americans are using its many resources, not all persons have equal access to the Internet. In addition to tailoring STI programs to accommodate unique patient populations, these programs will likely be faced with adapting services to fit reimbursement and licensing regulations.

Telehealth Services: Implications for Enhancing Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention

The use of telehealth - the delivery of healthcare services through the use of two-way electronic audiovisual technology - has grown significantly in the U.S. in recent years. Telehealth offers patients and providers significant benefits as a lower cost, easier way to access quality care, but the medical community is still working to perfect the balance between technology and in-person care. This article covers the current national telehealth landscape, consumer perceptions of telehealth, as well as the steps Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has taken to cover telehealth services for its members and implement a user-friendly mobile app to facilitate this type of care, as well as how it fits into their primary-care strategy. It discusses some existing applications for telehealth, as well as some ideal-state, practical ideas about the future of telehealth's use.
