Altered expression of NFY-C and RORA in colorectal adenocarcinomas.
Anastasia E. Kottorou,Anna G. Antonacopoulou,Fotinos-Ioannis D. Dimitrakopoulos,Athanasios Tsamandas,Chrisoula D. Scopa,Theodore Petsas,Haralabos P. Kalofonos +6 more
TL;DR: expression of NFY-C and RORA in colorectal adenocarcinomas and normal colonic tissue was elevated and correlated with time to disease progression, while NFy-C protein expression was significantly higher in metastatic disease.

Bax protein expression in colorectal cancer: association with p53, bcl-2 and patterns of relapse.
Alexandra Giatromanolaki,Efthimios Sivridis,George P. Stathopoulos,George Fountzilas,Haralambos P. Kalofonos,Athanasios Tsamandas,Eleni Vrettou,Chrisoula D. Scopa,Alexandros Polychronidis,Konstantinos Simopoulos,Michael I. Koukourakis +10 more
TL;DR: The development of novel monoclonal antibodies recognising specifically the mutated versus the wild type form of proteins would apparently improve the prognostic and predictive value of the immunohistochemically detected apoptotic proteins.

Lapatinib-induced hepatitis: a case report.
Stavros Peroukides,Thomas Makatsoris,Angelos Koutras,Athanasios Tsamandas,A. Onyenadum,Chryssoula Labropoulou-Karatza,Haralabos P. Kalofonos +6 more
TL;DR: A 60 year-old patient with metastatic breast cancer who presented with jaundice and increased serum aminotransferase levels and who had been treated with lapatinib for the previous 14 days and Liver biopsy revealed lesions compatible with drug-induced hepatotoxicity is presented.

Prion protein expression and the M129V polymorphism of the PRNP gene in patients with colorectal cancer.
Anna G. Antonacopoulou,Maria Palli,Stella Marousi,Fotinos-Ioannis D. Dimitrakopoulos,Urania Kyriakopoulou,Athanasios Tsamandas,Chrisoula D. Scopa,Athanasios G. Papavassiliou,Haralabos P. Kalofonos +8 more
TL;DR: Conclusively, PrPC overexpression may constitute a prognostic marker for disease recurrence and potentially a new target for anticancer therapy and further studies are needed to evaluate prospectively the role of PrPC expression in patients with CRC.

Cryoglobulinemia and progression of fibrosis in chronic HCV infection: cause or effect?
Dimitrios Siagris,Myrto Christofidou,Athanasios Tsamandas,Alexandra Lekkou,Konstantinos Thomopoulos,Chryssoula Labropoulou-Karatza +5 more
TL;DR: A clear association between the presence of serum cryoglobulins and staging score of chronic hepatitis was found, with no difference in patients' age or the duration of infection.
