With the rise of Erhu teaching in recent years, a large number of people have joined the team to learn Erhu playing. However, due to the high cost of teaching and the unique one-to-one teaching mode between teachers and students, Erhu education resources are very scarce. Learning Erhu performance has become a luxury activity. Nowadays, with the rise of artificial intelligence, computer music is developing rapidly. Music has two important aspects: composition and performance. Different kinds of instruments convey different styles, and players inject different rhythms and dynamics into their performance, thus producing rich expressive force. The development of image style conversion, which opens people's evaluation of music performance, is an important issue in many fields of artificial intelligence (it is also known as intelligence, machine intelligence, referring to the intelligence shown by the machine made by people. Usually, artificial intelligence refers to the technique of presenting human intelligence through ordinary computer programs). For an Erhu song, there are various factors that affect its effectiveness, and there are many indexes to evaluate it, such as sense of rhythm, expressive force, musical sense, style, and so on. Using a computer to simulate the evaluation process is essential to find out the mathematical relationship between the factors that affect the performance of music and the evaluation indexes. Neural network is a kind of mathematical model proposed by simulating the way of thinking of human brain in artificial intelligence. It has the advantages of not having strict requirements on data distribution, nonlinear data processing method, strong robustness, and dynamics and is very suitable for the mathematical model of evaluation system. In addition, the neural network also has a strong theoretical basis, and their application in various industries has developed basically mature. This paper tries to introduce a deep neural network mathematical model into the evaluation system of Erhu performance, and the experimental results prove the reliability and practicality of the method in this paper. It can provide a method basis and theoretical reference for evaluation of Erhu performance effect.

Analysis of Erhu Performance Effect in Public Health Music Works Based on Artificial Intelligence Technology

Predicting the difficulty of playing a musical score is essential for structuring and exploring score collections. Despite its importance for music education, the automatic difficulty classification of piano scores is not yet solved, mainly due to the lack of annotated data and the subjectiveness of the annotations. This paper aims to advance the state-of-the-art in score difficulty classification with two major contributions. To address the lack of data, we present Can I Play It? (CIPI) dataset, a machine-readable piano score dataset with difficulty annotations obtained from the renowned classical music publisher Henle Verlag. The dataset is created by matching public domain scores with difficulty labels from Henle Verlag, then reviewed and corrected by an expert pianist. As a second contribution, we explore various input representations from score information to pre-trained ML models for piano fingering and expressiveness inspired by the musicology definition of performance. We show that combining the outputs of multiple classifiers performs better than the classifiers on their own, pointing to the fact that the representations capture different aspects of difficulty. In addition, we conduct numerous experiments that lay a foundation for score difficulty classification and create a basis for future research. Our best-performing model reports a 39.5% balanced accuracy and 1.1 median square error across the nine difficulty levels proposed in this study. Code, dataset, and models are made available for reproducibility. 

Combining piano performance dimensions for score difficulty classification

Dynamic time warping under limited warping path length (LDTW) is a state-of-the-art time series similarity evaluation method. However, it suffers from high space-time complexity, which makes some large-scale series evaluations impossible. In this paper, an alternating matrix with a concise structure is proposed to replace the complex three-dimensional matrix in LDTW and reduce the high complexity. Furthermore, an evolutionary chain tree is proposed to represent the warping paths and ensure an effective retrieval of the optimal one. Experiments using the benchmark platform offered by the University of California-Riverside show that our method uses 1.33% of the space, 82.7% of the time used by LDTW on average, which proves the efficiency of the proposed method.

FastOPM - A practical method for partial match of time series

This paper studies the problem of identifying piano music in various modalities using a single, unified approach called marketplace fingerprinting. The key defining characteristic of marketplace fingerprinting is choice: we consider a broad range of fingerprint designs based on a generalization of standard n-grams, and then select the fingerprint designs at runtime that are best for a specific query. We show that the large-scale retrieval problem can be framed as an economics problem in which a consumer and a store interact. In our analogy, the runtime search is like a consumer shopping in the store, the items for sale correspond to fingerprints, and purchasing an item corresponds to doing a fingerprint lookup in the database. Using basic principles of economics, we design an efficient marketplace in which the consumer has many options and adopts a rational buying strategy that explicitly considers the cost and expected utility of each item. We evaluate our marketplace fingerprinting approach on four different sheet music retrieval tasks involving sheet music images, MIDI files, and audio recordings. Using a database containing approximately 375,000 pages of sheet music, our method is able to achieve 0.91 mean reciprocal rank with sub-second average runtime on cell phone image queries. On all four retrieval tasks, the marketplace method substantially outperforms previous methods while simultaneously reducing average runtime. We present comprehensive experimental results, as well as detailed analyses to provide deeper intuition into system behavior.

Large-Scale Multimodal Piano Music Identification Using Marketplace Fingerprinting

This paper investigates an ordered partial matching alignment problem, in which the goal is to align two sequences in the presence of potentially non-matching regions. We propose a novel parameter-free dynamic programming alignment method called hidden state time warping that allows an alignment path to switch between two different planes: a “visible” plane corresponding to matching sections and a “hidden” plane corresponding to non-matching sections. By defining two distinct planes, we can allow different types of time warping in each plane (e.g., imposing a maximum warping factor in matching regions while allowing completely unconstrained movements in non-matching regions). The resulting algorithm can determine the optimal continuous alignment path via dynamic programming, and the visible plane induces a (possibly) discontinuous alignment path containing matching regions. We show that this approach outperforms existing parameter-free methods on two different partial matching alignment problems involving speech and music.
