Infusion from Opuntia ficus-indica Peels: The Effects of Drying and Steeping Conditions
Ricardo B. Ferreira,Dulcineia F. Wessel,Artur M. S. Silva,Jorge A. Saraiva,Susana M. Cardoso +4 more
TL;DR: The drying and steeping conditions of Opuntia ficus-indica peels significantly impact the bioactive compound and antioxidant activity of the resulting infusions. Food dehydration at 35 °C and boiling water extraction yielded the highest levels of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity.

Predicting Research and Motor Octane Numbers based on Near Infrared Spectroscopy: Models based on Partial Least Squares Regression and Artificial Neural Networks
Ana L. Leal,Ana L. Leal,Jorge C. Ribeiro,Artur M. S. Silva,Fernando G. Martins +4 more
- 01 Jan 2018
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of two different multivariate models, based on partial least squares regression and artificial networks, was compared for the prediction of research and motor octane numbers of gasolines.

Diastereoselective One-Pot Tandem Synthesis of Chromenopyridodiazepinones through 1,4- and 1,6-Aza-Conjugate Additions/ Heterocyclizations
Abdelghani Bouchama,Ridha Hassaine,Oualid Talhi,Nadia Taibi,Ricardo F. Mendes,Fillipe A. Almeida Paz,Khaldoun Bachari,Artur M. S. Silva +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, an efficient one-pot synthesis of chromenopyridodiazepinone polyheterocycles by a catalyst-free nucleo-philic addition of ethane-1,2-diamine to (E,E)-3-[3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-oxoprop-1-en-1yl]-2-styrylchromones at room temperature under mild conditions was reported.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy for Structural Characterization of Bioactive Compounds
TL;DR: This chapter is to provide basic information on 1D and 2D NMR techniques and explain how they can help in the establishment of the complex planar and 3D structure of bioactive marine natural products.
