Hematopoietic tissue of Macrobrachium rosenbergii plays dual roles as a source of hemocyte hematopoiesis and as a defensive mechanism against Macrobrachium rosenbergii nodavirus infection.
Pitchanee Jariyapong,Arnon Pudgerd,Nifareesa Cheloh,Ikuo Hirono,Hidehiro Kondo,Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit,Wattana Weerachatyanukul,Charoonroj Chotwiwatthanakun +7 more
TL;DR: Resistance to MrNV infection in adult prawn is due to an increase in humoral immune factors and the acceleration of hemocyte homeostasis by the dual roles of the Hpt organ in M. rosenbergii.

Construction of an infectious Macrobrachium rosenbergii nodavirus from cDNA clones in Sf9 cells and improved recovery of viral RNA with AZT treatment
Pitchanee Jariyapong,Arnon Pudgerd,Wattana Weerachatyanukul,Ikuo Hirono,Saengchan Senapin,Saengchan Senapin,Arun K. Dhar,Charoonroj Chotwiwatthanakun +7 more
TL;DR: Using this model to produce infectious MrNV without XSV contamination proves that MrNV alone can be lethal to shrimp and it opens the way to further investigate the molecular basis of MrNV pathogenesis, and to develop antiviral strategy to control white tail disease.

The gastric sieve of penaeid shrimp species is a sub-micrometer nutrient filter.
Werawich Pattarayingsakul,Arnon Pudgerd,Natthinee Munkongwongsiri,Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit,Thawatchai Chaijarasphong,Siripong Thitamadee,Thanapong Kruangkum +6 more
TL;DR: Morphological and histological investigation, in conjunction with feeding experiments using fluorescent microbeads, reveals the size exclusion limit of the gastric sieve of penaeid shrimp to be substantially less than 1 µm.

Immunopathogenesis of hematopoietic tissues in response to Vibrio parahaemolyticus (VPAHPND) infection in Macrobrachium rosenbergii.
Arnon Pudgerd,Thanapong Kruangkum,Kallaya Sritunyalucksana,Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit,Supapong Imsonpang,Charoonroj Chotwiwatthanakun +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported a correlation between hemocyte loss and the pathogenicity and aggressive immune response in hematopoietic tissues of moribund M. rosenbergii.

The hematopoietic organ of Macrobrachium rosenbergii: Structure, organization and immune status
Arnon Pudgerd,Charoonroj Chotwiwatthanakun,Thanapong Kruangkum,Ornchuma Itsathitphaisarn,Kallaya Sritunyalucksana,Rapeepun Vanichviriyakit +5 more
TL;DR: The present study demonstrated for the first time the detailed histological structures of the HO of M. rosenbergii and its relationship to hematopoietic tissue and removal of foreign particles from hemolymph.
