Induction of Gag-Specific CD4 T Cell Responses during Acute HIV Infection Is Associated with Improved Viral Control
Miriam Schieffer,Heiko Jessen,Alexander F. Oster,Franco Pissani,Damien Z. Soghoian,Richard Lu,Arne Jessen,Carmen Zedlack,Bruce T. Schultz,Isaiah Davis,Srinika Ranasinghe,Eric S. Rosenberg,Galit Alter,Ralf R. Schumann,Hendrik Streeck +14 more
TL;DR: The generation of certain CD4 responses is associated with control rather than disease progression, and this suggests that the induction of HIV-specific CD4 T cell responses during acute HIV infection is beneficial overall and does not fuel disease progression.

CCR5Δ32 Genotypes in a German HIV-1 Seroconverter Cohort and Report of HIV-1 Infection in a CCR5Δ32 Homozygous Individual
Djin-Ye Oh,Heiko Jessen,Claudia Kücherer,Konrad Neumann,Nari Oh,Gabriele Poggensee,Barbara Bartmeyer,Arne Jessen,Axel Pruss,Ralf R. Schumann,Osamah Hamouda +10 more
TL;DR: The protective effect of CCR5 Δ32 heterozygosity is confimed in a large cohort of German seroconverters and one HIV-positive man homozygous for the deletion is identified, which is the 12th case of HIV-infection in this genotype described worldwide.
PEPDar: A randomized prospective noninferiority study of ritonavir-boosted darunavir for HIV post-exposure prophylaxis.
Gerd Fätkenheuer,Heiko Jessen,Albrecht Stoehr,Norma Jung,Arne Jessen,Tim Kümmerle,Mathias Berger,Johannes R. Bogner,Christoph D. Spinner,Christoph Stephan,Olaf Degen,R. Vogelmann,Petra Spornraft-Ragaller,E Schnaitmann,Björn-Erik Ole Jensen,A Ulmer,JM Kittner,Georg Härter,Peter Malfertheiner,Juergen K. Rockstroh,G Knecht,Stefan Scholten,T Harrer,WV Kern,B Salzberger,Dirk Schürmann,B. Ranneberg +26 more
TL;DR: PEPDar compared the tolerability and safety of ritonavir‐boosted darunavir (DRV/r)‐based post‐exposure prophylaxis (PEP) with the tolerable andSafety of standard of care (SOC).

HIV-associated lung cancer: Survival in an unselected cohort
Christian Hoffmann,Fabienne Kohrs,Michael Sabranski,Eva Wolf,Hans Jaeger,Christoph Wyen,Jan Siehl,Axel Baumgarten,Manfred Hensel,Arne Jessen,B. Schaaf,Martin Vogel,Johannes R. Bogner,Heinz-August Horst,Christoph Stephan +14 more
TL;DR: Currently, most cases of lung cancer occur in the setting of limited immune deficiency and a long-lasting viral suppression, and long-term overall survival can only be achieved at the limited stages.
