TL;DR: In this article , the authors trained and independently validated multimodal (mRNA abundance, DNA methylation, and/or DNA copy number) biomarkers that more accurately separate grade group 1 from grade group ≥ 2 cancers.
Liquid biopsy‐based targeted gene screening highlights tumor cell subtypes in patients with advanced prostate cancer
S. Chris Derderian,Q. Vesval,Michel D. Wissing,Lucie Hamel,Nathalie Côté,Marie Vanhuyse,Cristiano Ferrario,Franck Bladou,Armen Aprikian,Simone Chevalier +9 more
TL;DR: Cell-subtype specific genes are traceable in blood RNA of patients with advanced PCa and are associated with clinically relevant end points, opening the door to minimally invasive liquid biopsies for better management of this deadly disease.
Adherence to oral hormonal therapy in advanced prostate cancer: a scoping review
Neil Fleshner,Shabbir M.H. Alibhai,Kim A. Connelly,Ilídio R. S. Martins,Bernhard J. Eigl,Himu Lukka,Armen Aprikian +6 more
TL;DR: The most common observer-reported measure, medication possession ratio, showed that the vast majority of patients were in possession of their medication, although proportion of days covered and persistence rates were considerably lower, raising the question whether patients were consistently receiving their treatment as mentioned in this paper .
Active surveillance for selected patients with renal masses: updated results with long-term follow-up.
Tamer Abou Youssif,Wassim Kassouf,Jordan Steinberg,Armen Aprikian,Micheal P. Laplante,Simon Tanguay +5 more
TL;DR: The objective of the current study was to evaluate the outcome of a surveillance strategy in patients with renal masses and find out if it improved the quality of life and decreased the likelihood of complications.
Factors influencing disease progression of prostate cancer under active surveillance: a McGill University Health Center cohort.
Ghassan A. Barayan,Fadi Brimo,Louis R. Bégin,James A. Hanley,Zhihui Liu,Wassim Kassouf,Armen Aprikian,Simon Tanguay +7 more
TL;DR: To evaluate the clinical and pathological factors influencing the risk of disease progression in a cohort of patients with low–intermediate risk prostate cancer under active surveillance, a large number of patients were diagnosed with at least some form of prostate cancer.
