Interactive effect of the glutathione S-transferase genes and cigarette smoking on occurrence and severity of coronary artery risk.
Serena Masetti,Nicoletta Botto,Samantha Manfredi,Maria Giovanna Colombo,Antonio Rizza,Cristina Vassalle,Aldo Clerico,Andrea Biagini,Maria Grazia Andreassi +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the distribution of Glutathione S-transferase (GST) null genotypes was evaluated in 430 angiographically defined patients (308 CAD and 122 non-CAD) and the frequencies of GST null genotype did not differ significantly between patients with CAD and without CAD.

GSTM1, GSTT1 and CYP1A1 detoxification gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to smoking-related coronary artery disease: a case-only study.
Samantha Manfredi,C. Federici,Eugenio Picano,Nicoletta Botto,Antonio Rizza,Maria Grazia Andreassi +5 more
TL;DR: It was shown that smokers carrying GST deleted genotypes have an increased susceptibility to the smoking related coronary artery disease, and this model provides an excellent model in order to understand gene-environment toxicants interaction and its implications to cardiovascular disease.

Relation of increased chromosomal damage to future adverse cardiac events in patients with known coronary artery disease.
C. Federici,Nicoletta Botto,Samantha Manfredi,Antonio Rizza,Martina del Fiandra,Maria Grazia Andreassi +5 more
TL;DR: Levels of peripheral chromosomal DNA damage may be a new sensitive biomarker of prognostic stratification in patients with known CAD and is associated with a higher risk for major adverse cardiovascular events.

An increased platelet–leukocytes interaction at the culprit site of coronary artery occlusion in acute myocardial infarction: A pathogenic role for “no-reflow” phenomenon?
Nicoletta Botto,Silverio Sbrana,Giuseppe Trianni,Maria Grazia Andreassi,Marcello Ravani,Antonio Rizza,Anees Al-Jabri,Cataldo Palmieri,Sergio Berti +8 more
TL;DR: Data indicate an increased leukocyte-platelet functional interaction in AMI at the site of plaque rupture relative to the systemic circulation, which may be one of the pathogenetic mechanisms responsible for myocardial "no-reflow" phenomenon.

iTalian RegIstry of doUble inner branch stent graft for arch PatHology (the TRIUmPH Registry)
Ciro Ferrer,Piergiorgio Cao,Carlo Coscarella,Michelangelo Ferri,Luigi Lovato,Stefano Camparini,Luca di Marzo,Rocco Giudice,Gabriele Pogany,Claudia de Gregorio,Roberta Arzedi,Davide Pacini,Michele Antonello,Alberto Dall’Antonia,Yamume Tshomba,Giovanni Tinelli,Antonio Rizza,Sergio Berti,Giuseppe Faggian,Ilaria Franzese,Gabriele Maritati +20 more
TL;DR: Endovascular aortic arch repair using this model of DIBSG is feasible, and results are acceptable for a new technique in a high-risk subset of patients, and large-scale studies are needed to assess the long-term durability of this technique.
