Metallaphotoredox Decarboxylative Arylation of Natural Amino Acids via an Elusive Mechanistic Pathway
Manivel Pitchai,Antonio Ramirez,Don M. Mayder,Sankar Ulaganathan,Hemantha Kumar,Darpandeep Aulakh,Anuradha Gupta,Arvind Mathur,James Kempson,Nicholas A. Meanwell,Zachary M. Hudson,Martins S. Oderinde +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors proposed an alternative mechanism for the photoredox-Ni dual-catalyzed decarboxylative arylation of α-amino acids based on control experiments with NiIIArBr complexes, cyclic voltammetry (CV), and computational studies.

Ni/Photoredox-Catalyzed C(sp2)-C(sp3) Cross-Coupling of Alkyl Pinacolboronates and (Hetero)Aryl Bromides.
Anthony N. Cauley,Antonio Ramirez,Chandan L. Barhate,Andrew F. Donnell,Purnima Khandelwal,Melda Sezen-Edmonds,Trevor C. Sherwood,Jack L. Sloane,Cullen L. Cavallaro,Eric M. Simmons +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , the Ni/photoredox-catalyzed C(sp2)-C(sp3) cross-coupling of (hetero)aryl bromides and alkyl pinacolboronate esters was developed, which can be applied to both batch and flow reactions.

Amination of Nitro-Substituted Heteroarenes by Nucleophilic Substitution of Hydrogen.
Michael Mandler,Nina Suss,Antonio Ramirez,Christopher Farley,Darpandeep Aulakh,Yeheng Zhu,Sarah C. Traeger,Amy Narducci Sarjeant,Merrill L. Davies,Bruce A. Ellsworth,Alicia Regueiro-Ren +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , an open-air method for the transition metal-free direct amination of nitro(hetero)arenes by anilines is disclosed, where an aromatic C-H bond is substituted via oxidative nucleophilic aromatic substitution of hydrogen (ONSH).

Photo-Initiated Nickel Catalysis (PiNiC): Unmasking Dimethylnickel with Light
Martins S. Oderinde,Soomin Jin,Jayanta Das,Christine Jorge,Shiuhang Yip,Antonio Ramirez,Dauh-Rurng Wu,Ying Li,James Kempson,Nicholas A. Meanwell,Arvind Mathur,T. G. Murali Dhar +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the activation mechanism of Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl halides with organozinc reagents when a NiII-precatalyst is employed and the critical role that visible light plays in the process is explored.

Kinetic and Thermodynamic Considerations in the Rh-Catalyzed Enantioselective Hydrogenation of 2-Pyridyl-Substituted Alkenes
Wei-Fang Hao,Candice L. Joe,and V. Daru,Sloan Ayers,Antonio Ramirez,Bhupinder Sandhu,Ryan A. Daley,Jason S. Chen,Michael A. Schmidt,Donna G. Blackmond +9 more
TL;DR: The mechanism of asymmetric hydrogenation of 2-pyridyl alkenes catalyzed by chiral Rh-phosphine complexes at ambient temperature is examined and it is suggested that a pre-equilibrium in substrate binding is maintained across the pressure range investigated.
