Modelling of Thermoacoustic Combustion Instabilities Phenomena: Application to an Experimental Test Rig
Davide Laera,Giovanni Campa,Sergio Mario Camporeale,Edoardo Bertolotto,Sergio Rizzo,Federico Bonzani,Antonio Ferrante,Alessandro Saponaro +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a method able to predict the onset of thermoacoustic instabilities is examined and applied to a test rig in order to validate the proposed methodology, and the experimental test is designed to evaluate the propensity of full scale Ansaldo Energia burners used in gas turbine systems for production of energy.

Numerical Simulation of the Acoustic Pressure Field in an Annular Combustion Chamber With Helmholtz Resonators
Sergio Mario Camporeale,A. Forte,Bernardo Fortunato,M. Mastrovito,Antonio Ferrante +4 more
- 01 Jan 2004
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the effect of a Helmholtz resonator on the low frequency acoustic pressure in the case of an annular combustor and found that the peak of acoustic pressure characterizing the combustion chamber splits into two peaks of lower magnitude when the resonators are applied and the peak frequencies are correlated to the overall volume of resonant cavities.

Large eddy simulation of flame and thermal-acoustic characteristic in a strut-based scramjet with dynamic thickened flame model
Mengcheng Yuan,Ping Wang,Yangyang Zhang,Antonio Ferrante +3 more
TL;DR: In this article , a strut-stabilized model scramjet is performed with dynamic thickened flame combustion model, and an efficiency function accounting for both, wrinkling loss due to flame thickening and turbulence/flame interaction is derived.

Modelling of Thermoacoustic Combustion Instabilities Phenomena: Application to an Experimental Rig for Testing Full Scale Burners
Davide Laera,Giovanni Campa,Sergio Mario Camporeale,Edoardo Bertolotto,Sergio Rizzo,Federico Bonzani,Antonio Ferrante +6 more
- 16 Jun 2014
TL;DR: In this paper, an acoustic analysis of self-sustained thermo-acoustic pressure oscillations that occur in a test rig equipped with a full scale lean premixed burner is presented.
