Ultra-micronized palmitoylethanolamide rescues the cognitive decline-associated loss of neural plasticity in the neuropathic mouse entorhinal cortex-dentate gyrus pathway.
Serena Boccella,Claudia Cristiano,Rosaria Romano,Monica Iannotta,Carmela Belardo,Antonio Farina,Francesca Guida,Fabiana Piscitelli,Enza Palazzo,Mariacristina Mazzitelli,Roberta Imperatore,Lea Tunisi,Vito de Novellis,Luigia Cristino,Vincenzo Di Marzo,Antonio Calignano,Sabatino Maione,Livio Luongo +17 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that neuropathic pain negatively affects cognitive behavior and related LTP, glutamatergic synapse and synaptogenesis in the DG, and PEA treatment alleviates pain and cognitive impairment by restoring LTP and synaptic maladaptative changes in the LEC-DG pathway.

Neurological outcomes in immune checkpoint inhibitor-related neurotoxicity
Antonio Farina,Cristina Birzu,Mad-Hélénie Elsensohn,Alberto Picca,Sergio Muñiz-Castrillo,Alberto Vogrig,Macarena Villagrán-García,Nicolás Lundahl Ciano-Petersen,Luca Massacesi,Baptiste Hervier,Sarah Guégan,Nora Kramkimel,Yann Vano,Joe-Elie Salem,Yves Allenbach,Thierry Maisonobe,Souad Assaad,Aurélien Maureille,Perrine Devic,Nicolas Weiss,A. Pegat,Delphine Maucort-Boulch,Damien Ricard,Jérôme Honnorat,Dimitri Psimaras,Bastien Joubert +25 more
TL;DR: In this article , a multi-state Markov model was used to estimate the transition rates between minor disability (mRS <3), severe disability(mRS 3-5), and death (m RS 6), over the study period.
Neurological adverse events of immune checkpoint inhibitors and the development of paraneoplastic neurological syndromes
Antonio Farina,Macarena Villagrán-García,Alberto Vogrig,A. Zekeridou,Sergio Muñiz-Castrillo,Roser Velasco,A.C. Guidon,Bastien Joubert,Jérôme Honnorat +8 more
TL;DR: Experimental and clinical evidence suggests that post-immune checkpoint inhibitor paraneoplastic neurological syndromes probably share immunological features with spontaneous paraneoplastic syndromes, and can help in deciphering the immunopathogenesis of paraneoplastic neurological syndromes and in identifying novel therapeutic targets.

Cytokine dynamics and targeted immunotherapies in autoimmune encephalitis
Nicolás Lundahl Ciano-Petersen,Sergio Muñiz-Castrillo,Cristina Birzu,Alberto Vogrig,Antonio Farina,Macarena Villagrán-García,Bastien Joubert,Dimitri Psimaras,Jérôme Honnorat +8 more
TL;DR: The potential applicability of the novel targeted immunotherapies in autoimmune encephalitis depending on the immunobiology of the associated antibody, their limitations, as well as the main limitations that should be addressed in future studies are discussed.
