A new efficient encoding/decoding procedure for the design of a supply chain network with genetic algorithms
TL;DR: In this paper, an encoding-decoding procedure embedded within a GA was proposed to minimize the total logistic cost resulting from the transportation of goods and the location and opening of the facilities in a single product three-stage supply chain network.

A hybrid genetic algorithm for minimizing makespan in a flow-shop sequence-dependent group scheduling problem
TL;DR: The obtained results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed hybrid metaheuristic in tackling the FSDGS problem under investigation.
68
Solving the hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with limited human resource constraint
TL;DR: A novel discrete backtracking search algorithm powered by a tabu search operating through a new encoding structure, denoted as BSATS, is designed for the problem at hand, and the numerical results obtained confirm both the effectiveness and the efficiency of the proposed method.

A mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model for the evaluation of CHP system in the context of hospital structures
Antonio Costa,Alberto Fichera +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, an optimal planning method is proposed for sizing a cogeneration plant to be installed within a public/commercial micro-grid, based on a mixed integer linear programming model which uses a set of experimental input data in terms of both thermal and electric power consumption for determining the annual operational strategy, able to reach a twofold objective: minimizing the total operational cost of the microgrid and finding the optimal size of the CHP.

Joint optimization of a flow-shop group scheduling with sequence dependent set-up times and skilled workforce assignment
TL;DR: In this paper, an M-machine flow-shop group scheduling problem with sequence-dependent set-up times integrated with the worker allocation issue has been studied with reference to the makespan minimization objective.
