Sliwa,Martin O'Donnell,Nooshin Bazargani,Antoni Bayes-Genis,Tara McCready,Jeffrey L. Probstfield,Salim Yusuf +53 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors examined differences in heart failure etiology, treatment, and outcomes between groups of countries at different levels of economic development, including high-income and low-income countries.

The obesity paradox in heart failure: is etiology a key factor?
Elisabet Zamora,Josep Lupón,Marta de Antonio,Agustín Urrutia,Ramon Coll,Crisanto Díez,Salvador Altimir,Antoni Bayes-Genis +7 more
TL;DR: The obesity paradox was only observed in patients with non-ischemic HF, after adjusting for age, sex, NYHA functional class, LVEF, co-morbidities, and treatment.

Predictive value of beat-to-beat QT variability index across the continuum of left ventricular dysfunction: competing risks of noncardiac or cardiovascular death and sudden or nonsudden cardiac death.
Larisa G. Tereshchenko,Iwona Cygankiewicz,Scott McNitt,Rafael Vázquez,Antoni Bayes-Genis,Lichy Han,Sanjoli Sur,Jean-Philippe Couderc,Ronald D. Berger,Antoni Bayés de Luna,Wojciech Zareba +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the predictive value of beat-to-beat QT variability in heart failure patients across the continuum of left ventricular dysfunction was determined, and the highest QTVI quartile was associated with cardiovascular death.

Natriuretic peptides: role in the diagnosis and management of heart failure: a scientific statement from the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology, Heart Failure Society of America and Japanese Heart Failure Society
Hiroyuki Tsutsui,Nancy M. Albert,Andrew J.S. Coats,Stefan D. Anker,Antoni Bayes-Genis,Javed Butler,Ovidiu Chioncel,Christopher DeFilippi,Mark H. Drazner,G. Michael Felker,Gerasimos Filippatos,Mona Fiuzat,Tomomi Ide,James L. Januzzi,Koichiro Kinugawa,Koichiro Kuwahara,Yuya Matsue,Robert J. Mentz,Marco Metra,Ambarish Pandey,Giuseppe M.C. Rosano,Yoshihiko Saito,Yasushi Sakata,Naoki Sato,Petar M. Seferović,John R. Teerlink,Kazuhiro Yamamoto,Michihiro Yoshimura +27 more
TL;DR: The Trilateral Cooperation Project among the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology, the heart failure Society of America and the Japanese Heart Failure Society as discussed by the authors represents an expert consensus that aims to provide a comprehensive, up-to-date perspective on natriuretic peptides in the diagnosis and management of heart failure, with a focus on the following main issues: (1) history and basic research: discovery, production and cardiovascular protection; (2) diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers: acute HF, chronic HF, inclusion/endpoint in clinical trials, and northeoretic peptide-guided therapy; (3) therapeutic use: nesiritide (BNP), carperitide (ANP) and ARNIs; and (4) gaps in knowledge and future directions.

Differing prognostic value of pulse pressure in patients with heart failure with reduced or preserved ejection fraction: results from the MAGGIC individual patient meta-analysis
Colette E. Jackson,Davide Castagno,Aldo P. Maggioni,Lars Køber,Iain B. Squire,Karl Swedberg,Karl Swedberg,Bert Andersson,A. Mark Richards,Antoni Bayes-Genis,Christophe Tribouilloy,Joanna Dobson,Cono Ariti,Katrina Poppe,Nikki Earle,Gillian A. Whalley,Stuart J. Pocock,Robert N. Doughty,John J.V. McMurray +18 more
TL;DR: Lower pulse pressure was an independent predictor of mortality in patients with HF-REF, particularly in those with an LVEF < 30% and systolic blood pressure <140 mmHg, and this relationship between pulse pressure and outcome was not consistently observed among patients withHF-PEF.
