New keratinolytic bacteria in valorization of chicken feather waste.
Wojciech Łaba,Barbara Żarowska,Dorota Chorążyk,Anna Pudło,Michał Piegza,Anna Kancelista,Wiesław Kopeć +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a single strain of Kocuria rhizophila p3-3 exhibited significant keratinolytic properties and degraded up to 52% of chicken feathers during 4 days of culture at 25°C.
Antioxidative Characteristics of Chicken Breast Meat and Blood after Diet Supplementation with Carnosine, L-histidine, and β-alanine
Wiesław Kopeć,Dorota Jamroz,Andrzej Wiliczkiewicz,Ewa Biazik,Anna Pudło,Małgorzata Korzeniowska,Tomasz Hikawczuk,Teresa Skiba +7 more
TL;DR: It can be concluded that histidine or dipeptide supplementation of chicken diets differently affected the total antioxidant potential: in breast muscles, it increased dipeptic content, while in blood cell sediment (rich in erythrocytes), increased SOD and GPx activities were observed.

Influence of different histidine sources and zinc supplementation of broiler diets on dipeptide content and antioxidant status of blood and meat
Wiesław Kopeć,Dorota Jamroz,Andrzej Wiliczkiewicz,E. Biazik,Anna Pudło,Tomasz Hikawczuk,Teresa Skiba,Małgorzata Korzeniowska +7 more
TL;DR: Zn supplementation combined with SDBC in a broiler diet led to the increase of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activity, but it did not affect the radical-scavenging or ferric iron reduction abilities of muscles.

Antioxidant status of turkey breast meat and blood after feeding a diet enriched with histidine
Wiesław Kopeć,Andrzej Wiliczkiewicz,Dorota Jamroz,E. Biazik,Anna Pudło,Tomasz Hikawczuk,Teresa Skiba,Małgorzata Korzeniowska +7 more
TL;DR: Investigating the effects of spray dried blood cells rich in histidine and pure histidine added to feed on the antioxidant status and concentration of carnosine related components in the blood and breast meat of female turkeys found histidine supplementation resulted in increased DPPH radical scavenging capacity in the breast muscles and blood, but did not result in higher histidine dipeptide concentrations.

Enzymatic Degradation of Pretreated Pig Bristles with Crude Keratinase of Bacillus cereus PCM 2849
Wojciech Łaba,Dorota Chorążyk,Anna Pudło,Joanna Trojan-Piegza,Michał Piegza,Anna Kancelista,Adam Kurzawa,Iwona Żuk,Wiesław Kopeć +8 more
TL;DR: The presented process poses an alternate way of management over pig bristles, a hard-to-degrade keratinous waste, with hydrolysis in given conditions allowed to obtain hydrolysate rich in branched chain amino acids.
