Bloodstream infections in haematological cancer patients colonized by multidrug-resistant bacteria
Cristina Cattaneo,R Di Blasi,Cristina Skert,Anna Candoni,Bruno Martino,N. Di Renzo,Mario Delia,Stelvio Ballanti,Francesco Marchesi,Valentina Mancini,Enrico Orciuolo,Simone Cesaro,Lucia Prezioso,Rosa Fanci,Gianpaolo Nadali,Anna Chierichini,Luca Facchini,Marco Picardi,Michele Malagola,Vincenza Orlando,Enrico Maria Trecarichi,Mario Tumbarello,Franco Aversa,Giorgio Rossi,Livio Pagano,Angela Passi,Doriana Gramegna,Domenico Russo,Davide Lazzarotto,Domenico Rotilio,Maria Rosaria De Paolis,Edoardo Simonetti,Maria Alessandra Innocente,Antonio Spadea,Francesco Mazziotta,Anna Pegoraro,Angelica Spolzino,Gloria Turri,Barbara Veggia +38 more
TL;DR: MDR rectal colonization occurs in 6.5% of haematological inpatients and predicts a 16% probability of MDRrel BSI, particularly during neutropenia, as well as a higher probability of unfavourable outcomes in CR-rel BSIs.
Do high MICs predict the outcome in invasive fusariosis
Marcio Nucci,Jeffrey D. Jenks,George Richard Thompson,Martin Hoenigl,Martin Hoenigl,Marielle Camargo Dos Santos,Fabio Forghieri,Juan Carlos Rico,Valentina Bonuomo,Leyre López-Soria,Cornelia Lass-Flörl,Anna Candoni,Carolina Garcia-Vidal,Chiara Cattaneo,Jochem B. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the correlation between MIC and outcome (6 week death rate) in patients with invasive fusariosis (IF) and found that persistent neutropenia and receipt of corticosteroids were strong predictors of 6 week mortality.
Risk Factors and Outcomes of Infections by Multidrug-Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria in Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
Francesca Patriarca,Chiara Cigana,Dozzo Massimo,Davide Lazzarotto,Antonella Geromin,Miriam Isola,Marta Lisa Battista,Marta Medeot,Michela Cerno,Alessandra Sperotto,Anna Candoni,Massimo Crapis,Assunta Sartor,Claudio Scarparo,Matteo Bassetti,Renato Fanin +15 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that eligibility to allogeneic HSCT in MDR GN bacteria carriers should be carefully evaluated together with all other factors that independently influence outcome (disease status, donor, and GVHD risk).

Clinical outcome of myeloid sarcoma in adult patients and effect of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Results from a multicenter survey
Davide Lazzarotto,Anna Candoni,Carla Filì,Fabio Forghieri,Livio Pagano,Alessandro Busca,Giuseppina Spinosa,Maria Elena Zannier,Erica Simeone,Miriam Isola,Erika Borlenghi,Lorella Melillo,Federico Mosna,Federica Lessi,Renato Fanin +14 more
TL;DR: Patients with MS, both with de novo and secondary forms, still have a very unfavorable outcome and require an intensive therapeutic program, that includes Allo-SCT whenever possible, and the outcome after Allo -SCT is positively influenced by the development of chronic GvHD suggesting a Graft versus MS effect.

Population pharmacokinetics and dosing considerations for the use of daptomycin in adult patients with haematological malignancies.
Piergiorgio Cojutti,Piergiorgio Cojutti,Anna Candoni,Virginia Ramos-Martin,Davide Lazzarotto,Maria Elena Zannier,Renato Fanin,William W. Hope,Federico Pea,Federico Pea +9 more
TL;DR: This study provides a strong rationale for considering daptomycin dosages of ≥ 8 mg/kg/day in several clinical scenarios for oncohaematological patients and suggests therapeutic drug monitoring could be a useful adjunct for optimized care.
