Inside the root microbiome: Bacterial root endophytes and plant growth promotion
Jonathan R. Gaiero,Crystal A. McCall,Karen A. Thompson,Nicola J. Day,Anna Best,Kari E. Dunfield +5 more
TL;DR: The drivers of endophyte community structure relating to plant growth promotion, the mechanisms of plant growth Promotion, and the current and future use of molecular techniques to study these communities are reviewed.

Microbial processes in the Athabasca Oil Sands and their potential applications in microbial enhanced oil recovery
TL;DR: The microbiology of the Athabasca Oil Sands and the mechanisms bacteria use to tolerate low water and high hydrocarbon availability in oil reservoirs and oilfields, and potential applications in MEOR are reviewed.

Effects of Glacial Sediment Type and Land Use on Nitrate Patterns in Groundwater
TL;DR: In this article, sites with a variety of agricultural land management practices and glacial geologic settings were investigated by employing high-resolution data collection methods, where geologic data from continuous sediment cores were combined with depth-discrete hydrogeologic and geochemical parameter measurements using multilevel monitoring wells.

Transport of Escherichia coli through a Thick Vadose Zone
TL;DR: Monitoring groundwater at depth after manure treatments at a 12-m-thick vadose zone of coarse, heterogeneous glacial sediments suggests preferential flow pathways allowing deep infiltration of manure bacteria as well as a continued source of bacteria, with variable retention and travel times, over several months.
