Septins as membrane influencers: direct play or in association with other cytoskeleton partners
TL;DR: In this article , the authors report recent works that address how septins bind to membranes, and influence their shaping, organization, properties and functions, either by binding to them directly or indirectly through other cytoskeleton elements.

Basal endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) phosphorylation on Ser1177 occurs in a stable microtubule- and tubulin acetylation-dependent manner
Julien Giustiniani,S Couloubaly,Anita Baillet,Marie-Luce Pourci,Isabelle Cantaloube,C Fourniat,Jean-Louis Paul,Christian Poüs +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the involvement of stable microtubules in basal eNOS phosphorylation involved alpha-tubulin acetylation, and microtubule-dependent organization of subcellular eN OS and control over its phosphorylated would thus be essential for endothelial cells to maintain their basal e NOS function.

Stress-induced phosphorylation of CLIP-170 by JNK promotes microtubule rescue.
Hélène Henrie,Dalal Bakhos-Douaihy,Isabelle Cantaloube,Antoine Pilon,Antoine Pilon,Maya Talantikite,Virginie Stoppin-Mellet,Anita Baillet,Christian Poüs,Christian Poüs,Béatrice Benoit +10 more
TL;DR: Upon stress, JNK stimulates microtubule dynamics in human epithelial cell lines and phosphorylates the rescue factor CLIP-170, increasing its retention frequency on the lattice behind comets, at locations that correspond to potential future rescue sites.
Septin filament coalignment with microtubules depends on SEPT9_i1 and tubulin polyglutamylation, and is an early feature of acquired cell resistance to paclitaxel.
Benjamin Targa,Laurence Klipfel,Isabelle Cantaloube,Joëlle Salameh,Béatrice Benoit,Christian Poüs,Anita Baillet +6 more
TL;DR: Coupling septins (including SEPT9_i1) overexpression together with long-chain tubulin polyglutamylation induce significant paclitaxel resistance in several naive (taxane-sensitive) cell lines and accordingly stimulate the binding of CLIP-170 and MCAK to microtubules.
Modulation of septin and molecular motor recruitment in the microtubule environment of the Taxol-resistant human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231.
Laurence Froidevaux-Klipfel,Florence Poirier,Céline Boursier,Ronan Crépin,Christian Poüs,Bruno Baudin,Anita Baillet +6 more
TL;DR: Changes in the MT proteome of resistant cells also comprised increased kinesin‐1 heavy chain expression and recruitment on MTs while dynein light chain‐1 was downregulated, which might reflect their important role in controlling MT dynamics via the organization of signaling pathways.
