TL;DR: Frick et al. as discussed by the authors developed an end-use load profile (EULP) dataset for the U.S. building stock, which can help cities, states, and utilities understand the time-sensitive value of energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resources.

Load-driven interactions between energy efficiency and demand response on regional grid scales
Brian F. Gerke,Cong Zhang,Samanvitha Murthy,Andrew Satchwell,Elaina Present,Henry Horsey,Eric Wilson,Andrew Parker,Andrew Speake,Rajendra Singh Adhikari,Mary Ann Piette +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors perform bottom-up modeling of the interactive effects between energy efficiency and demand response in buildings for three representative regions of the United States electricity grid and show that the overall effect is competition between EE and DR, but significant complementarity can also occur, especially when the EE portfolio includes controls measures.

End-Use Load Profiles for the U.S. Building Stock: Practical Guidance on Accessing and Using the Data
Margaret Pigman,Natalie Mims Frick,Eric D. Wilson,Andrew Parker,Elaina Present +4 more
- 05 Dec 2022
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors describe example applications and considerations for using the National Renewable Energy Lab's ResStock and ComStock end use load profiles (EULP) for electricity planning use cases.
A Framework to Predict Variability Characteristics in Building Load Profiles
Sam Moayedi,Andrew Parker,Kevin James,Xiaoyue Cheng,Michael Hempel,Hamid Sharif,Mahmoud Alahmad +6 more
TL;DR: In this article , a data-driven approach to predict characteristics of missing high-resolution information in a low-resolution signal, applicable to both measured and modeled building load profile data, utilizing machine learning regression algorithms was presented.
