The main purpose of virtual reality (VR) is to enhance realism and the player experience. To do this, we focus on VR interaction design methods, analyze the existing interaction solutions including both accurate and rough interaction methods, and propose a new method for creating stable and realistic player interactions in a first-person shooter (FPS) game prototype. In this research, we design and modify the existing mapping methods between physical and virtual worlds, and create interfaces such that physical devices correspond to shooting tools in virtual reality. Moreover, we propose and design prototypes of universal interactions that can be implemented in a simple and straightforward way. Proposed interactions allow the player to perform actions similar to those of real shooting, using both hands such as firing, reloading, attaching and grabbing objects. In addition, we develop a gun template with haptic feedback, and a visual collision guide that can optionally be enabled. Then, we evaluate and compare our methods with the existing solutions. We then use these in a VR FPS game prototype and conduct a user study with participants, and the resulting user study proves that the proposed method is more stable, player-friendly and realistic.

Enhanced Player Interaction Using Motion Controllers for First-Person Shooting Games in Virtual Reality

While the use of machine learning and computer vision to classify human behavior has grown into a large, well-established, interdisciplinary area of research, one area that is somewhat overlooked is the intersection of computer vision as a tool for evaluating user behavior in Virtual Reality, particularly in the context of immersive analytics and visualization. We draw on the literature from pattern recognition, computer vision, and machine learning to compose a simple, comparatively resource-cheap pipeline for camera-based extraction of features of professional analyst users and of their sessions in an existing VR visualization system, ImAxes. Our results show high accuracy in predicting self-reported features of the users, even as survey responses about user experience with the immersive interface are somewhat ambiguous in varying based on these features.

Virtual Reality (VR) has widely infiltrated to our daily life and became a bridge for connecting information and human interaction, behavior and feeling. Using VR technologies to develop Learning Environment is not exceptional but rarely seen a Learning Environment to have misgiving about the experience change during operating and what alteration would happened in design of the Learning Environment in instance of VR experience. In this study, we develop a 3D Edutainment Environment call Holodeck Laboratory (HL), providing several playable stages which is designed with educational contents and binding VR technologies to its structure to increase the presence and Player Experience. We will recruit participants which is familiar with VR Environment and Edutainment Environment or not to participate in a Playing Test for all Stages. We attempt to explain that designing Edutainment Game Stages with consideration of VR condition and Game-Based Learning would enhance the player's Player Experience as well as the learner's problem solving skills and motivation of learning.

An object surface extraction from a set of point clouds extracted using a Kinect V2 sensor is presented here. First several point clouds are extracted from different angles around the object. Second point clouds are registered with each other using the Iterative Closest Point algorithm. If the angle between two camera positions is large, point clouds are manually rough aligned. Then iterative closest point algorithm provides a finer alignment. Next the object boundary is found enclosing all the points in the aligned and merged point cloud. After that a triangular mesh is created with the boundary points. Finally colors acquired from the original point cloud are applied on the triangular surface generated. For a better visual effect colors of the points are interpolated on the triangular mesh generated.
