Micro-annulus generation under downhole conditions: Insights from three-dimensional staged finite element analysis of cement hardening and wellbore operations
Weicheng Zhang,Andreas Eckert +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a staged finite element approach to simulate well-ore integrity during various loading steps of wellbore operations under downhole conditions, focusing on the processes of cement poro-elastic property evolution, volume variation and pore pressure variation as part of the cement hardening step.

Large‐scale mechanical buckle fold development and the initiation of tensile fractures
TL;DR: In this article, a 2D plane strain finite element modeling approach is used to study single-layer buckle folds with a Maxwell viscoelastic rheology and a variety of material parameters are considered and their influence on the initiation of tensile stresses during the various stages of deformation is analyzed.

Stress evolution during 3D single-layer visco-elastic buckle folding: Implications for the initiation of fractures
TL;DR: In this paper, a 3D finite element modeling approach using a Maxwell visco-elastic rheology was used to obtain a better understanding of the conditions for the initiation of the various fractures sets associated with single-layer cylindrical buckle folds.

Case Study of Wellbore Stability Evaluation for the Mishrif Formation, Iraq
TL;DR: In this article, a 1-D mechanical earth model (MEM) of the Mishrif formation is compiled based on its state of stress and rock strength parameters, and is utilized to assess the contribution of borehole collapse leading to the stuck pipe problems.
