TL;DR: Observations and physical modelling of a rapidly fading electromagnetic transient in the galaxy NGC 4993, which is spatially coincident with GW170817, indicate that neutron-star mergers produce gravitational waves and radioactively powered kilonovae, and are a nucleosynthetic source of the r-process elements.
Detection of Circumstellar Material in a Normal Type Ia Supernova

TL;DR: The spectroscopic detection of circumstellar material in a normal type Ia supernova explosion indicates that this material was ejected from the progenitor system.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present griz P1 light curves of 146 spectroscopically confirmed Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia; 0.03 < z < 0.65) discovered during the first 1.5 yr of the Pan-STARRS1 Medium Deep Survey.

TL;DR: Observations of two slow-to-fade super-luminous supernovae that show relatively fast rise times and blue colours, which are incompatible with pair-instability models are reported.
