TL;DR: Among 500 infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), 5% had genetic or congenital anomalies, which were associated with worse neurodevelopmental outcomes, including increased risk of death or impairment, cerebral palsy, and lower cognitive and motor scores.
