A review of physical and cognitive interventions in aging.
Panagiotis D. Bamidis,Ana B. Vivas,Charis Styliadis,Christos A. Frantzidis,Manousos A. Klados,Winfried Schlee,Anastasios Siountas,Sokratis G. Papageorgiou +7 more
TL;DR: This piece of work summarizes recent findings toward recommended multimodal training and highlights the role of functional brain connectivity work, an emerging discipline for future research in healthy aging and the study of the underlying mechanisms across the life span.

Gains in cognition through combined cognitive and physical training: the role of training dosage and severity of neurocognitive disorder
Panagiotis D. Bamidis,Patrick Fissler,Sokratis G. Papageorgiou,Vasiliki I. Zilidou,Evdokimos I. Konstantinidis,Antonis Billis,Evangelia D. Romanopoulou,Maria Karagianni,Ion Beratis,Angeliki Tsapanou,Georgia Tsilikopoulou,Eirini Grigoriadou,Aristea I. Ladas,Aristea I. Ladas,Athina Kyrillidou,Anthoula Tsolaki,Christos A. Vivas,Iris-Tatjana Kolassa +27 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that combined physical and cognitive training improves global cognition in a dose-responsive manner but these benefits may be less pronounced in older adults with more severe NCD.
Diffusion Tensor Imaging in brain tumors: A study on gliomas and metastases
T.S. Papageorgiou,Danai Chourmouzi,Antonios Drevelengas,Konstantinos Kouskouras,Anastasios Siountas +4 more
TL;DR: Diffusion tensor indices could be used for the differentiation between low and high gradegliomas, as well as for distinction between gliomas and metastases.

Measurements and FLUKA simulations of bismuth and aluminium activation at the CERN Shielding Benchmark Facility (CSBF)
Elpida Iliopoulou,Elpida Iliopoulou,Panagiotis D. Bamidis,M. Brugger,R. Froeschl,Angelo Infantino,Tsuyoshi Kajimoto,Noriaki Nakao,Stefan Roesler,Toshiya Sanami,Anastasios Siountas +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Monte Carlo simulations with the FLUKA code have been performed to estimate the specific production yields for these samples, compared to activation measurements of these samples with an agreement better than a factor of 2.

Radiation exposure to patients and radiologists during interventional procedures.
E. Molyvda-Athanasopoulou,M Karlatira,Anna Gotzamani-Psarrakou,Ch Koulouris,Anastasios Siountas +4 more
TL;DR: Very good correlation was found between TLD measurements of the eye and the thyroid of the patients and the relative values calculated by ODS-60, and the estimated dose to the radiologists' eyes is considerably high, so wearing leaded glasses is recommended for the optimisation of the procedure.
